I read the title as "due to death" and I was like "What?" then had to re-read it four times before I realized it was "Health".

Poor girl. I was just thinking about her today. (it's so weird how news about stuff I think about comes out the second later) She had just gotten her Aurora role, and her new Popura role. Mental health, huh... I wish I could help her. Can't wait to see her back at work soon.

Wait, this is just for public appearances, correct? The headline makes it sound like she's not working at all but the article just says she's not going doing public stuff (and just for a short time "she is preparing herself to appear in a May 8 event" . I've never realized how many appearances they must attend if this is a major deal. I'd think it'd just be a choice not to do them.

Probably having difficulty adjusting to the mental drain of juggling all the voice roles + public appearances. The agencies put them through pretty demanding schedules, and you have to smile and bear it no matter how you feel.
Since VA popularity can be a fleeting thing, so they capitalize on it for the few years the VA is very popular for. |

WHAT THE ****! The last thing we need is a relatively new seiyuu suddenly kicking the bucket. Really hope that she takes care of herself and gets well. Japanese entertainment agencies really need to learn how to take better care of their stars/staff/employees. There's a limit as to how much you can push someone

Think of them as people in the entertainment biz who are just starting out. The amount of effort they put in is what is needed to be successful. Plus, they don't get paid all that much, and doing these little things like radio shows and appearances put food on the table. Tho, in this case, Asumi Kana's LISP unit may see some setback (tho I didn't think that was going anywhere anyways...) |

The same could be said about manga artists, video game creators and other job categorizes. The only difference is that for those starting out, you really have to push your self beyond and above your limits. If this people didn't in the begining, they might not have been as successful. But this is especially true in the entertainment industry. There is a ton of actors every where and that said, you have to really make it a point to stand out. Because if you don't you might become either a one hit wonder or just another actor in a industry. But if this actor is pushing herself this hard to cause this issue, it probably means she is giving it her all and taking her job very seriously. You'd be surprised how many people don't do that elsewhere and the end results aren't always that positive either. I can safely say I've never pushed myself that far, but I've come pretty close when I am working on a exceptional daunting and time consuming project. But then again, I like to work hard, so I don't know. |

Actually, from what I've heard, she's started to draw again. Just small projects, though--nothing major. Let's just keep our fingers crossed. |

It can't have been the new Kampfer OVA that got her stressed out, she had all of what, 3 lines?
Seriously though, I hope she gets better soon. The only anime I've seen her in is Kampfer, but I though she did an excellent job capturing Mikoto's personality. |

Oh god, I had a heart attack reading this headline. I was worried something fatal had happened to her, though I'm not undermining the importance of maintaining her everyday mental and physical health one bit by saying that. I really hope and wish for the best for Kana Asumi-- I've been a huge fan of hers since I first watched Hidamari Sketch a few years ago.
It must be really tough being a voice actress... |

While the Japanese may overstress & overhype their seiyuu, at least the general public gets exposure to them.
It seems like all too many American VAs take the JD Salinger approach to interaction with the public--none whatsoever. Sadly, I can't think of any seiyuu that I'd have any interest in meeting (if you can call interaction at such an event a "meeting") despite the beaucoup of shows I've seen in Japanese.
