I guess it will have caught up completely with the light novels - The Suprise of Haruhi Suzumiya. Does anyone know if the light novels are continuing? If they do then the manga will probably return.

I guess Tanigawa really needs to step on the gas to get more of the light novels out. Not really surprised that the 2nd manga is ending(yeah I know about the really terrible 1st attempt).

Okay, but that doesn't mean that the light novel series is going to end, right?
The english translation of the currently last Japanese book will be released soon, but the author didn't say that it would be the end, right?

I just don't want it to finish, I really like the novels and still hope that they will make a third season of the Anime eventually, when they have enough material to work with.

In the novel fanbook released in June 2011, Tanigawa told the editors and illustrator that he was working on the next novel. Since it's been over two years since that roundtable occurred, he's run into problems. There has been no official statement that the novels are done though.

There's plenty of material for another season, but there's no reason for Kadokawa to make it. There's no new novels coming out any time soon (and even if there were, there's no guarantee that Tanigawa can consistently put out novels to justify making an anime). The producers at Kadokawa would rather adapt other manga/novels that need the sales boost an anime would give to diversify the risk of making a series.

Let's hope they'll adapt more of the chapters into a Season 3 or something. It's enough material for it, anyways.

I don't know how the rest of the novels go as far as story wise as I haven't read them yet (I just bought vol. 6) but I'd assume the series will continue whenever the author really gets a chance to write it.

Didn't they make it clear with the second season that they don't want to make anymore? Do you really want another endless eight?

The anime would be next to impossible to continue after that scandal that happened forever ago, fans don't like her much, and changing CV's would also be a terrible idea.

As for the LN, it's continuing, but who knows when the next one will be.

The problem isn't the scandal which people tend to make out to be a bigger deal than it actually is. The problem as people said above, is that the publisher of the novels has no incentive to authorize another anime. Without a steady stream of novels for the series, they're better off spending resources on newer series that are putting out a steady stream of material.
