I'm all starry eyed and happy now! I'm brand loyal to Baby and this is definitely awesome news.

+ points to the chain for naming itself (I presume) after the title of Everything But the Girl's '80s album (which is gorgeous, if you liked their sound)!
Now I'm curious about their S.F. store in the former Japantown; have you been there, Rachel? I'm like the least fashion-conscious of all of us, probably, but would like a peek inside after lunching on shrimp tempura soba, yum Probably just girly stuff though LOL Really looking forward to this anime; sounds enticing |

I already had some photos of the costumes on my website in September 2010, because part of the staff was guests of honor at the German convention Connichi:

Awesome, thanks! Though at first I thought you were a time-traveller from the future
Looks like the anime is set for Summer 2011! Big fan of both Daisuke Ono and Miyuki Sawashiro (Canaan, Shinku, and... wait. *scans encyclopedia intently* Beelzebub's BABY BEEL? Am I reading her entry right? LMAO, if that's the case Dalian looks great, but I'm sort of biased already towards "Literature Girls" *pats Veronique, Kotomi-chann~ and Touko* Can't wait! |

You're right! The name does come from Everything But the Girl. Their location at the New People building is actually one of the reasons I moved to SF. It's a wonderful little place and the pieces on sale are so gorgeous. It's not incredibly girly, but just sweet looking. There's also there's another brand represented, like Angelic Pretty or something. It's go Baby or go home for me, all other brands are obsolete. This is such an awesome step for Baby and how lolita fashion is viewed in anime. Most people just tend to see it as a theme for a character. Like a school uniform, not designed but just existing in variations. The fact that so much detail has been put in the designs and that Baby was the house being used (synonymous for being traditional lolita and a staple for the culture) is like whipped cream on icing. However, it buggs me that the live versions of the designs are made with what I believe is a satin. I don't think I've ever seen a Baby dress made of anything but polyester. Probably done for aesthetics but it does look one. The character with the white empire gown is to die for. I can't wait to see future cosplays. I think this show will be a big success! Or at least I'm hoping. Thanks for posting the link, Tmsi! That actually cleared up a few questions I had. |

I know, it looks too shiny... in the wrong way... I really hope they are just test dummies and the final versions use nice cotton and better material. |

Hmm, some fresh staff working on the anime [seiyu aside]... and it's Gainax to boot. Even more interested now.
... 2 months to go. |
