I hope so. I haven't had a chance to buy the manga yet but from the few pages I've read, it was very impressive.
I'm assuming it will be released in Japan, so I hope that VIZ eventually releases it here.

Very cool! I've been meaning to finish that book. I bought Vol 1 and read some chapters. It was neat. I liked the author's No. 5 a bit better though. He has a really neat style. I also picked up Blue Spring. I hear there was a live action movie based on that one.
Oh yeah, also Studio 4`c souncds like a good studio for this project. I like their stuff. Anyone know if anything other than their Animatrix work is avaible in the US. I love many of their crazy shorts. -Xenos |

There is a god. Black and White is probobly my favorite Matsumoto manga, and the trailer from a couple years ago looked amazing. Perfect studio for the job too.
There were rumors going around that Viz was considering re-releasing it due to Matsumoto's growing fanbase, so hopefully the movie will give off enough buzz to convince them to go through with it.
To be honest, the really good stuff doesn't come until the second half of volume 2, and volume 3 is just jaw-dropping. As for Blue Spring, yes it was made into a movie, as was Ping Pong. |

And, Viz might be crazy enough to license the movie just so they can have an excuse to pimp the manga too. |

Ahhhhhh!!!! I'm SO happy! Ever since I saw the pilot directed by Koji Morimoto, I've been DYING to see a full length feature. (I wonder if the film will use Kanno music like the pilot..?) I love Studio 4C; everything they've done is fantastic. If this film matches the energy and beauty of the trailer, it should be a film to remember. Oh my gosh, I can't even articulate how excited I'm feeling right now.
There's always Memories, in which "Magnetic Rose" and "Cannon Fodder" are animated by Studio 4C. And the concert scene in Macross Plus which was directed by Koji Morimoto (absolutely incredible). As for their short films, they are not very available, unfortunately.

Pilot here, under Tekkon Kinkurito. Also be sure check out the Kin Jin Kitto pilot, that's the one that I really want to see made into a movie. I mean this is going to be awesome, but I've already read Black and White, y'know?
4C also did Spriggan, which is available here but (in my opinion) fairly mediocre. Really pretty, but a fairly silly action movie. Though I guess it's good if you're into that sort of thing. They also did an animated short that later appeared in the live-action movie Rampo, that one was done by the animation director of Metropolis, Angel's Egg, and Night on the Galactic Railroad (among other things). Though that one is also available for (legal!) download off Catsuka, the site I linked to above. Also, importing the Eternal Family DVD can work if you've taken about a year of Japanese at the college level - it's really visually oriented, and most of the dialogue is very simple. And it's not like it really makes any sense in any case, even with subtitles. Now if only someone would bring over Noiseman... |

Maybe if the DVD extras included a documentary explaining what the hell it all meant, I'd consider picking it up. I actually enjoyed Spriggan for what it was: lots and lots of awesome action scenes with some decent pacing. It really didn't live up to the manga but still a worthy watch for action fans. |

That would end up being longer than Noiseman itself. But hey, it's not as intimidating as trying to get Morimoto to explain what the Aerial Bar short from Digital Juice is all about (Wine-chan might be pregnant!). Not that those two aren't totally awesome... Though it would be kinda cool to see a Morimoto documentary, hopefully it would end up kinda like the one about Alejandro Jodorowsky where he eventually turned the focus away from himself and on to the cameraman and helped him through his personal problems. |
