Although this seems like a question that probably would have been asked before on an anime forum, I saw no similar thread on any recent pages and I am curious about this. I know that anime/manga with loli stuff is legal in Japan and all, but I thought underaged nudity was illegal in the US. I mean, obviously I'm not referring to things like My Neighbor Totoro, but am referring to animes that arguably have underaged nudity included as elements of fanservice that have been licensed in the US. What exactly is the state of legality/ethicality on this matter?

John Opplinger, in his Ask John column over at Anime Nation's site, just did an excellent and fairly comprehensive explanation of this exact issue on Monday the 17th. I recommend that anyone who has such concerns check that out.

Wow, I'm surprised to see that that was exactly yesterday. O_O Thanks for responding with that.
