Well, I just finished watching Vol.1&2 of DragonBall GT that was just released on American DVD. Well, I've gotta say, I'm alittle disappointed. Now, I consider myself to be a sort of Dragonball expert and fan. Now first, I'm glad they keep the voice actors the same. Young Goku even keeps his voice from Dragonball. I'd say the voice were well done. Now I perfer the original openings and closing but for the Dragonball, I'd say the music wasn't bad. The background music isn't as great as DBZ but it'll do. The announcer however, MY GOD HE SUCKS!!!! He tries to make DBGT sound dark or something. Either way he's absolutely horrible. But thats not my main problem. My problem is how utterly stupid it is to release a series, 13 episodes in. I mean damn you skip a whoel 13 episodes and only take 30 minutes to explain. I'm sorry but thats stupid. I mean you miss some really good stuff comedy wise. Alright, sorry there isn't that much fighting, but so what come on you miss part of the story. I just think its ridiculous to do such a thing and this isn't some new series thats trying to make it. This is the last installment of the Dragonball franchise. So, I'd have to say funimation as good as they are as a company, this time they are complete morons. Overall, however the its not done too bad. As I said they skip 13 episodes but atleast they do spend an entire episode kinda recapping on whats happened. Thats its saving grace. The fighting was alittle slow for dragonball standards, but its not bad. Its definetally not as bad as watching Yamcha or Tien fight so we got off lucky. But still the first releases lacked so many character, Gohan and Goten were barely in it. Vegeta didn't even have one line. I definetally think there will be some debate over the GT release. So will love it, so will hate.

When it comes to Dragonball, Funi has always been kinda moronic. Is there an uncut version out for the DVDs or just the Funi edited version?

The DVDs are dub/sub.

Heck, Fun jumping the story for the action is reason enough for not to buy it. Heck, I still find that the first 3 and the last 5 ep of DBGT as the best of the series, outside of clips of Bra and Marron. Wink

yeah, I agree that skipping like they did is enough to make you not want to buy it, but atleast they kept the original japanese verison and remastered it alittle bit. It makes it worth watching. Thats its major saving grace in my opinion

Nah, if I really want it that bad, I'll pick up the box set, when they get around the first part of the series.

Maybe Funimation will release a 2-disc 13 episode set for DBGT like they did for the original Dragonball. Except better this time... and uncut... and soon.

I've heard that Funimation will release the first 13 episodes. As to how or when I don't know. I just think its incredbily stupid to skip episodes, especially since so of the best humor is in the first 13 episodes. After that GT turns into a much more serious, DBZ like anime. GT is a combination of DB and DBZ. I very much enjoy the comedy portions of the series that shouldn't have been let out just because Funimation wanted to start things off on a more exiting note. Dragonball fans in my opinion really wouldn't ahve cared where you start. If anything some of the more hardcore fans like myself will be angry that they skipped ahead. But oh well, lets see how funimation makes up for their stupidity.
