I like to say this is certainly a good step for J-pop to get outside of Japan/Asia since we're already seen the power of K-pop, but Japan can do a lot more for J-pop. If they can make more J-pop programs aimed at western audiences in mind like for example make something similar to Pops in Seoul, Simply K-pop, Showbiz Korea, and After School club that could help J-pop outside of Japan/Asia. That could help J-pop get as big as K-pop worldwide. Does anybody know how many J-pop programs are shown in Japan, because if those TV channels and companies in Japan can broadcast those J-pop program outside of Asia, it can help J-pop a lot. For example, there are many K-pop programs broadcasted outside of Asia like KBS World broadcast Music Bank, Mnet broadcast M! Countdown, and SBS's Inkigayo can be watched on Dramafever. So far Dramafever does not have any J-pop music program, only K-pop music program. If Japan does this and that include export J-dramas in huge number (like on the same level as K-dramas), then Japan could replicate it's own "Hallyu" meaning many J-pop groups and artists could do more concerts outside of Asia and not at anime cons, I would love to see a J-pop "SMTown Live World tour/United Cube/Music Bank World Tour" styled concert like K-pop does, maybe we could end up seeing:
-EXILE and AKB48 becoming Japan's answer to Super Junior and Girls Generation on international level. Super Junior already went to South America as part of their Super Show 5. Girls Generation has announced their 1st world tour and said they'll go to North America, South America, and maybe Europe. I want to see EXILE perform outside of Japan and outside of Asia meaning I want to see EXILE performing in Asia, Australia, South America (like Super Junior did), Europe, and North America. The same for AKB48!!! -Arashi could rival SHINee, SS501, TVXQ (DBSK), JYJ if Arashi goes international. -SCANDAL and Flumpool could rival FT Island and CNBlue. -Jpop boy group like Hey! Say! Jump, Sexy Zone, Kajani8, D-date, J Soul Brothers, Kis-my-Ft2, NYC, Sexy Zone, A.B.C-Z could end up becoming Japan's U-KISS, ZE:A, MBLAQ, 2PM, BEAST (B2ST), BtoB, LC9, Boyfriend, Nu'est, Vixx, Teen Top, and Infinite. -The same for girl group for J-pop I always thought Morning Musume, S/Mileage, E-girl, Dream, C-ute, Buono!, Passpo, Tokyo Girls Style, Super Girls, E-Girls, Dream, Nogizaka46, SDN48, Momoiro Clover Z, and Berryz Kobo could totally rivaled their Korean counterpart: Wonder Girls, f(x), Girl's Day, T-ara, 5dolls, Hello Venus, Ladie's Code, Apink, KARA, Rainbow, SECRET, After School, Skarf, Chocolat, and other smaller known K-pop girl group. I hope this come true because it's not safe for J-pop to stay in Japan given that the music sales have went down in Japan and population decline in Japan could hurt the music industry. Also if K-pop get's more mainstream worldwide, then it could drive J-pop artists to the point of jealousy where they don't want to be kept in Japan and Asia anymore and want to be like their Korean counterpart. Globalizing J-pop is inevitable. |
