I'm just watching Eva for the first time through the movies, so I don't have quite the same feel for it. But I'm glad to hear that, for once, a movie remake of an anime is actually good.
Love the take on the screening room. The vibe has changed, not only because anime is more widely available, but because the anime shown is often stuff you've already seen. Back in the 90's when the vid room was mostly fansubs, it was more of a sense of entering a buffet to try something new. Still have fond memories of seeing Oniisama e for the first time, and still in my wildest dreams wish someone would release it here (come on, Nozomi). And I pray somene has YouTubed He-Man and Sonny & Cher colliding in the masquerade. |
