just curious if anyone knows what version of tekkaman was aired on UPN. it was called technoman in english. i figure it's not the original tekkaman series. it's either tekka blade 1 or 2 i would imagine. oooops sorry gonna repost this in the proper place

Teknoman = Tekkaman blade 1. I'm fairly sure of that.
Are you Belgian btw? Seems it's a Belgian favorite. |

well, there are 3 vrsions of tekkaman:
1) Tekkaman Blade the Space Knight (70's show) 2) Teknoman (cut version of Tekkaman Blade), the cut version is the one that aired in the world (the one you saw) 3) Tekkaman Blade II, an OVA |

It was Teknoman (Tekkaman Blade). I think only a few episodes aired and then it got cancelled.

Tekkaman Blade definitely isn't a 70's show. Somewhere between 1990 and 1995. |

Came out in the early 1990's. It's a shame it'll never see the late of day on dvd here in the US. I loved that show too.

The very first series (from the mid '70s) is just called Space Knight Tekkaman. The second one (from the early '90s) is called Tekkaman Blade. It was edited and cut for U.S. broadcast by Saban Entertainment and aired on UPN under the name "Teknoman". The edits range from name changes, to recording over the original music, to cutting episodes (49 down to 43).
I don't really remember much of the cut version, but I saw whole thing in Japanese, and I really wish the franchise would get a faithful release. And finally, there's Tekkaman Blade II, which was also aired on TV (at least here in the U.S.). It's a decent OAV series, but nowhere near as dramatic as the TV series. I'd recommend it if you just can't get enough Tekkman, though. |

hehe. no not belgian. just plain american. it was a series i was real fond of when it first came out on upn in a time when i really wasn't giving anime a chance. it just caught my imagination and now that i've returned to anime i've been going back to find out the animes that caught my attention
