Wow, I'm surprised that it was even being made. Thought it would have take longer. But then again it was announced like what 1-2 yrs ago.

Can't wait!
Not the genre I'd associate with Spike, I guess he did work on Summer of Sam, but still I'm just looking forward to this. The Bollywood version was awesome, even if it was set in Thailand, so I can't see this being any worse.

Good to see that people aren't reflexively poo-pooing on this film just for daring to be an American remake of a foreign movie, although maybe I'm not looking hard enough for such people. Spike Lee can be a talented director when there's something (like, say, another person's screenplay) keeping him in line, and he's certainly assembled some talented actors for this project. I'll make sure to see the Korean film before this one, but apart from that I plan on trying to go into it with an open mind.

Well, this is an anime website, and that's a Korean film, so..........

Really curious to see how this turns out. No matter what you think about him, you can't deny Spike Lee has a definite handle of cinema language in how he uses visual style. If he's feeling experimental, I can see this being a well-shot film with some really inventive scenes (can't wait to see if he does that hallway fight!).
I am both excited and saddened about the different plot, as I liked the film more than the manga, though I don't want a shot for shot remake, either. As long as it's a GOOD film, it shouldn't matter. Hopefully the cast of actors (and the score~) will be up to snuff.
Anyone know yet if this'll be wide release, or limited? I really hope it's not the latter....I don't want to have to hunt this down...
