I was wondering what anime you people regret purchasing or viewing?
My biggest regret in life is when I purchased Tekken the motion picture from suncoast back in 2005. It was only $10, I was only 17 at the time and didn't know any better. This will haunt me to the grave. |

I purchased a Blind Bag from my first con (Katsucon 2007) and in it were three DVDs. Two live-action Asian films and Vol. 2 of Devil Lady. I wasn't much of a Go Nagai fan back then (I'm trying to watch Cutey Honey now) so I wished I had bought something more...appealing.
Also, do doujin's count? Because I have a lot of those. I also regret watching Mars of Destruction. |

I won't even type the name. Seriously I have no idea how I ended up with this but I think it was the result of a typo from one of the online sites I order from.

This probably doesn't fit the intention of the OP (who seems to be trying to find out which anime people found so bad that owning it is embarrassing) but the purchases I was most embarrassed to make are Dance in the Vampire Bund anime set and many of the DitVB manga volumes. Reason being that the cover artwork tends to focus on an underdressed loli character. And knowing that virtually every TRSI package is opened by Canada Customs doesn't make it less embarrassing, for sure.

I regret buying a Brave 10 DVD, simply because of the quality. I never ended up watching the damn thing, simply unwatchable audio-visual quality!

I'm assuming that was a bootleg DVD, right? As far as I know, Brave 10 has not yet had a legit release outside of Japan.

This isn't necessarily a purchase, but something my mother got me. During the first couple years I was an anime fan, my mother occasionally would get me used anime DVDs from a local video store since much of my expenses were being put towards paying for college. At one time, she got me a Kama Sutra hentai DVD.
Cue awkwardness, having to explain to her what a hentai was and my mother being utterly embarrassed at her error. |

That must have had a fairly tame cover then. Hentai DVDs usually make it pretty obvious what you're getting.
I bought The Cat Returns off eBay. The nice lady who sold it to me included a handwritten note in the package, saying she hoped my children enjoyed the movie. I have no children, and I was a little embarrassed that the title skews so young she thought I couldn't possibly be buying it for myself. I'm not embarrassed to own it, though. |

In the days before YouTube, I had to track down some badly, badly subbed HK bootleg DVD's of classic Doraemon (the episodes, not the movies), since...well, that was the only way you could see it.
Needs must, but not proud of swimming in the eBay sewer. Also, if anyone wants a complete single-by-single ADV series of Excel Saga, let me know--Maybe it wasn't such a long-term idea buying the disks to find out what happened in the series. (And for those who say "If they're ADV, why not sell them back to RightStuf?", well, this was back when I used to cut down the cases to fit slim cases, and pretty well sabotaged the resale value of anything I was planning to keep anyway. Hence the embarrassment.) |

It was on my first convention. I didn't know anime cons would have bootlegged DVD's. Now I know where to buy my stuff. |

I don't really regret any of my purchases and I buy everything online so there's nothing for me to be embarrassed about there, but I'd have to say the most embarrassing thing I own would be the ridiculously sexed-up volume 1 of Welcome to the NHK. My porn is safely hidden away, so I don't much factor it into the equation, but goddamn that cover needs to be toned down!

Well, my most embarassing purchase was a Pinto station wagon, when I was still single. However I expect you mean anime related.
As Polycell said, most stuff is now sold on line by people who don't care. However even when I was buying from brick and morter stores I wasn't embarassed. I learned long ago to "own" my hobby and to not care what people think. However, while I am not embarassed that I bought Popotan, I am somewhat embarassed that I watched the whole thing. Man, that was bad. |

Mine would definitely be my beloved body pillow of Zero from Vampire Knight. I adore it and it is a lovely picture of him (best Zero merch I've ever seen) but ... it's a body pillow.
Though I got it at a con that Linkara was at and he asked if it was for him, which was amusing. |

lol that cover doesn't even make sense to me. spoiler[the first four episodes aren't anywhere near as sexual as that cover suggests (and, really, neither is the series as a whole)!] |
