For reals?! This I've got to hear! Anno has a reedy and inconspicuous sort of voice; I wonder how he'll sound in this? It'll be fun to find out!
Between this and the God Warrior short before Eva 3.0, it really seems like Anno has been "returning to his roots" as an animator under Miyazaki and the two have been working together a bunch, doesn't it? I've always wondered how their two very prickly individual personalities gel and how they get along with each other...

*does numerous double takes in quick succession* What? I... just... what?!
I'm unsure as to how I should feel about this.

It just occurred to me how much Anno looks like some sort of Mirror Mirror version of Rolf Harris.

I had something to say about this, but I'm too speechless to actually remember what it was I was about to say...

Hmmm. I can see Anno joining up with his old buddies at Ghibli, Miyazaki and Takahata. Now that he's finally got Evangeleon out of his blood he's probably at a loose end at the moment.

Ha. Anno is livin' the celebrity lifestyle but good.
Although, isn't he politically some kind of wacky right-winger? How does he get along with that pinko hippie Miyazaki?

I saw someone talking about this on Twitter and I assumed they were joking.
Hey, as long as the guy can act I don't see why not.

I've been pointing that out for a while, yeah. This is just a really fantastic example though: Anno is literally voicing the heroic Zero designer, chosen instrument of the Japanese Air Force - great for invading Asian countries, fighting foreigners, strafing Pearl Harbor, etc.

Well, it's obvious why Anno would be pleased as punch to work with this movie. Why Miyazaki?
My best guess: Miyazaki *really* loves old-fashioned propeller-driven airplanes.
But I guess we'll see when the movie actually comes out.

That's because his parents actually helped build them during the war.

I know the two go way back, but when I read "protagonist" I did a double take.

I dont know ,on one hand he made Gunbuster on the other he starred in a movie called Death Kappa in which he made fun of right wing terrorist, also I consider Nadia to be quite liberal.

I wonder how much of this is choosing Anno for genuine ability/talent versus doing a friendly gesture from an artist who may/may not be in his last years. I imagine it must be some combination of the two, but which supersedes the other?
