The first episode took me by surprise for the way it was presented. Still, definitely looking forward to the second season in October.

I wonder...does it really count as a second season when all they did was split the show in half right from the beginning of the broadcast?
More to the point, I'm not even sure if I'll get through Valvrave without dropping it first. It was crazy bad enough to be entertaining, since I am not above watching trashy shows for the hell of it, but not interesting enough to convince me that I should stay for the whole thing. That's important when you're asking me to watch an entire show's worth of such silliness.

You might as well ask that of the other series that were split cour from the start.
Given that they usually have a slightly different name for the second round (i.e. Jormungand vs. Jormungand: Perfect Order), I would say it does count as a "second season".

Awesome.
"Iketani explained that the anime needs to be this long to cover the story's unravelling mysteries and very large cast of characters."
Very cool, always like this aspect of "longer" shows.

Agree that it's not often and episode starts out with so much gruesome killing and especially the ending was pretty violent (Yes, I've seen shows like Higurashi)

Well, it's quite boring how predictable this show started out. I'm not an expert (even though I have quite a few shows under the belt) but the first episode felt simliar to what I've seen before and as always I had hoped to experience something new. However, Im not the type to drop shows after simply watching a few episodes because It might often take some time for a new show to present itself in a good way.
Too end things off, I'll just say that I wasn't impressed how it started out and I really hope that this will not crash and burned like similiar shows...
For now all I see is pretty much Eureka Seven or Kurogane no Linebarrels which started out the same and mostly improved themselves.
To first stab someone in the heart and then shoot them two times. Can only relate to shows like Higurashi in this case. That was pretty much the only thing that made this show feel a bit special for now.
