As much as I like Bleach, there have been just too many fights ever since volume 28 without a rest (although I enjoyed them). By the way, am I the only one who finds that cover dirty? Embarassed

If the fight scenes in Bleach are like visual poetry, then the words the characters say to each other are ... actually too poetic, with a lot of loud, theatrical declarations of aggression.

Oh but this is one of the things I love about Bleach! I get a silly grin on my face whenever someone shows up and proclaims "My name is ___ and I'm going to defeat you" (or variations on the former) while totally believing it at the same time =D

Quote:
"No, I have a hidden power that I shall use to defeat you! And here's how it works!"

I also love the one-upping that goes on in the series, almost no fight is completely one-sided, so it's fun watching the opponents trade the upper hand. And I love the fight between Szayel and Kurotsuchi, despite not really liking either of the characters. Kurotsuchi is definitely best when used for comedy (like in those Color Bleach comics =D)

That cover just varifies my belief that Bleach has gone way past it's use by date, and now they are trying echii to get the kids to buy it.

It's a thrilling battle of mind over matter—Zommari shows off his mind-control abilities, only to be outdone by Byakuya's superior willpower and critical-thinking skills—and it certainly doesn't hurt that Byakuya is a man of high principles who has some chilling, powerful words for his opponent.

I must have been reading a different manga, because I recall the outcome of that fight was determined by:
spoiler[Arrancar character no one cares about: I have 88 eyes, each one can control one object.
Byakuya: I have 1000 swords. That's more than 88. You lose.]

Apparently, so did Viz. I'm a bit confused about which cover they're actually using, though. I've seen two versions of the cover on the internet. Amazon has the cover with the logo on top, while elsewhere I've seen the version used in this review with the logo in the middle (so as to cover the uh...underboob). I guess I'll find out tomorrow when I get it, though I hope they went with the logo on top, not because I want to see underboob, but because the other one leaves a sort of awkward white space up top.

Nel became a favorite of mine last volume, so I'm glad to see more of her in action. This arc has been nowhere near as bad as people made it out to be. It has been nonstop fighting, but there have been plenty of good moments with each character too. Viz really has to do a speed up, though. While I have been enjoying this arc, it does move slowly, and it would benefit greatly from being released faster. I predict/hope they'll skip ahead to the current arc of the manga after the flashback arc, maybe.

Bleach sure has gone downhill since the Soul Society arc.

That cover is from three years ago; and there's nothing wrong with it. Stop being a prude.

That's a very literal way of judging a book by its cover...

I couldn't think of a better way to showcase bias and ignorance. But just so we don't have any misunderstandings, no, I'm not some Bleach hardtoid defending the Soul Society Bible. >_>

Just stating a matter of fact...

That so must be it. I mean it's not like Titty, I mean Tite Kubo has designed characters with large half-exposed breasts before this cover.

I think Bleach is kind of infamous for people reading it just to talk about it. I think I have seen one guy who apparently likes anything from the previous few years.

More like a big time anti fanservice prude than your average prude who think a series that should have ended a long time ago.

Besides, if the cover was more ecchi, SO? it would not be a big deal either way. I would say the more the better, with a mix of the usual shouen jump fashion here and there.

Also after watching EP 192 on Adult Swim a week ago, i was not susprised at all that they used the same VA for Orihime (even though she's using a different name ) as Neliel.

Nah yo, they're completely different actors.

Colleen O'Shaughnessey did Nel, while Stephanie Sheh did Orihime.

Yeah, Nel isn't the first bit of ecchi Bleach has seen, and not the last (if my memory serves well, which it doesn't always).

That said, with this volume, things really start to pick up again...though it does kinda go downhill again in about 7-8 volumes.

But, whatever, its Bleach, you just gotta take as it goes...

Are you sure? Cause if my memory serves me , she used that same name as an alias on tengo tenge , not to mentioned on the end of ep 192 , Neliel sounds wayy to much like her. Even some of the user on the Adult Swim forums has came with the same thing too.

However I could be wrong?

Of course it's not gonna be the last. With a squeaky clean prude of a main character like Ichigo ( When it comes to women with big boobs that is. Watch ep 41 as well as ep 47 of the Soul Society Arc as proof ) It wont be the last.

Also I kinda doubt it goes downhill again.

Sure it wont reach to the level of the soul socirty arc, but it definitely wont go down like that. That i am certain.

Hate to break it to you, but you're in for a VERY rude awakening......

You know, unless you like (spoilers to those not reading online) spoiler[one of the biggest Villain Sues ever, some insanely random dues ex machinas and plot twists, the art occasionally taking a dive, the entire Espada team not really accomplishing much in the long run (Aizen himself even points this out, so even Kubo is admitting he wasted our time), and quite a few other problems.

I admit, the timeskip had me hopeful things will improve, but I haven't started reading it yet and things I've heard don't sound good.]
