I think its more like the artist has gotten better at drawing sexy girls over the years (see Mugen Souls)

Well true enough but etna was never in a loli to me. After all I was 17 when the first disgaea game out lol. Yes the art-work has gotten a whole lot better but I don't really see how 2-d sprites/animation can look any better.

Have you not seen Vanillaware's work or KOF XIII?
edit:
OOh i see a new monster type. Getting excited now.
Also, what happened to "Maharl" from the anime? I vaguely remember reading a rumor saying that notes for that character originally existed which is why the anime implemented her. So I was confused when I read the plot for the new story as it seemed to not mention her at all.

It seems rather obvious that she was reworked into Sicily.

I may finally get a PS3 this autumn (assuming they reduce the price further when the PS4 comes out), and, if I do, Disgaea D2 will be one of the first games I'll buy along with the Neptunia series games, Atelier Ayesha, and Tales of Graces F.
Even though I do have an XBox 360, I still play my Playstation 2 almost as often. I don't mind being a generation "behind". Also, aside from a couple of driving games, the only Sony PS3 exclusives that interested me all that much were the JRPGs.

That's really the sole reason I got a ps3 in the first place. Then there is the fact games such as final fantasy 13 and star ocean 4 are not multi disc so it really helps you out.

Jrpgs are all I play, but that aside what exclusives does 360 have exactly that are so great. Killzone and Resistance are for campaign anyway around halos level in terms of sci fi fps. then sony has exclusive covering pretty much every genre from heavy rain, to Little big planet, to metal gear solid 4, to god of war 3 to gran turismo 5 etc.
Imo the xbox has only two worthwhile exclusives, Witcher 2, Vesperia, and Lost Odyssey. And technically the ps3 has the better version of Vesperia, but you have to import. Oh but thats okay because unlike the xbox, Sony has a region free system. ;0
Im not trying to knock you but honestly I can never buy these 'oh ill buy a console for one game, or oh this console just does not have the games I want despite having a line up at least on par of the console the individual does own.'
Regarding sicily, I hope they dont go the route of the anime, where its revealed see was not really his sister. I mean see does have an odd group of traits like laharl's mother hair (brownish) , but the demon family trait of antenna. I think if it was an imposter trying to play his sister, they would have gone with a more obvious hair color like blue?

So based on the outfit Flonne is wearing, I guess this takes place before Disgaea 4. Not sure if it's meant to be before 2 and 3 as well.
Anyway, looks great. If NISA releases another huge LE like they did with Disgaea 4, I'll definitely want it but whether it can fit into my budget is another question......

I don't care about first person shooter games, I made my decision as to which "next gen" console I wanted to buy strictly on driving games and the XBox 360 already had Forza Motorsports 2 and two Project Gotham Racing games when I got it in October 2007 while there was still no sign of Gran Turismo 5, which wouldn't be released for three more years. And it wasn't a difficult choice either, Forza Motorsports 2 had Ferrari, Lamborghini, and Porsche, none of which, at the time, had made an appearance in the Gran Turismo series (RUF-modded Porsches don't count as it's a separate license).

Wow. you bought a console based on racing games over jrpgs and you frequen ANN because?
RUF has been in gt from the start. RUF = Porsche supped up. RUF = Shelby/Saleen to Mustangs. technically gt 2 or 3 did actually have a diablo in JPN only, but I am not buying a racing sim just for a couple of cars.
I am currently playing forza 3 and finished 2 a few weeks ago, and I can say its a joke compared to gt. Sure the forza series has better graphics, and the customizing of your car is cool, but I play gt and foza for sim aspect and forza is a joke in that regards. A rewind button for God's sake. \
And any racing outside of sims are just complete trash unless it has an anime tie like Intial D arcacde games.
Incidentally Sony also had other racing games, for God's sake if you bought a first gen console it came with a motorsports game.
But whatever thats off topic, continue the d2 talk.

I'm here because I like anime? I can like more than one kind of thing.
As for Forza vs. Gran Turismo, I haven't played GT5 but I played GT4 all the way through before I ever played a Forza game and, while I like Gran Turismo as a grab bag of diverse kind of racing styles, for the bread-and-butter of racing exotic sports cars on racetracks, I honestly prefer Forza. Different flavours of racing. Anyhow, neither series is a pure sim, but, if I was really that concerned about playing sims, I'd forgo console racing entirely and get a gaming computer up to specs and get IRacing or Live for Speed or one of those other super simmy games. Some of my favourite racing games are pure arcade, though, like Out Run 2.

It would be cool of NIS put out a combo pack that had both the first game and D2 in it for those(like me) who missed the first one when it came out. I realize its highly unlikely, but still something I would love to see. Either way I will be picking this up.
