I read about this show today and it seems extremely interesting. I very much like slice-of-life shows so is this a good buy?

I thought it was a good rental, and if you're a fan of that genre, it might be a good buy for you. I'd try to rent the first one if you can just to see if it's what you expect. Netflix and Blockbuster Online have them available. |

Thanks. I was beginning to worry that no one's heard of it.

I've never seen the show, but I used to read snippets of the manga in Mangajin when that mag was still being published. I thought the stories were enjoyable and usually rather poignant, so if you're looking for slice-of-life then I recommend it. Hopefully the anime adaptation lives up to the manga.

The first two volumes have been reviewed on this site; see the links below. Story quality varies widely from episode to episode, so make sure you see a full volume before passing judgment. All are oriented towards adults and feature issues most relevant to adults, such as a young woman having to look after a deadbeat father she had tried for years to distance herself from, or a man put off by his son's lack of enthusiasm over getting his first bike when that was one of his fondest childhood memories.
Human Crossing is unlike most other anime series out there, so you're probably best off renting it first if you can. If you do like it then I also recommend the Rumiko Takahashi Anthology series, which is a bit more light-hearted but probably the closest equivalent. Volume 1 Review Volume 2 Review |

Well judging from those reviews, it does look like I something I'd enjoy.

Human Crossing does sound a little like a sequel to Animal Crossing, but obviously without the animals. It'd be like Grand Theft Auto Lite.
