Well after hearing about the big editing controversy over Tenjho Tenge, I was wondering what other mangas are edited. I want to know because I hate buying edited manga's and anime because I feel that I'm being ripped off. On the major, I wanted to know if Tokyopop edited there manga, because a friend of mine said that the Rave Master manga has quite a few edits and I own the first six volumes.
So any help on companies that edit there manga and manga's that are edited, would be greatly appreciated.

Some people will point you towards Tokyopop as a big culprit of Edited manga.
Some of the titles mentioned as edited or know to be edited:
Initial D (Name Changes, Certain Scences Re-Edited, "Americanized" Slang, Wrong Car Info.)
Battle Vixens AKA Ikki Tousen (Severe Dialogue Changes)
Chobits (Nothing specific, thought i've heard that some were not amused at Tokyopop's handling of it.)
I've also heard that one of Sonda's manga also got edited. Forget the name, was this Busty Andriod Girl that could turn into a scooter.

"Edited" is a bad word for this because depending on the way you take the word, it can mean everything ranging from:
blatent censorship
to
name changes
to
americanizations
joke substitution
using "mr." instead of "san,"
translating the sound effects
and all the way down to
making sure the spelling is correct and the book is well made.
All of these things can be considered a part of the editorial process (as can the very act of translation itself). Seeing the kind of spelling and grammar mistakes that have come out of unedited material, I'm glad there are editors working on the manga I read.
So how about the words: "Censorship," "Americanization," or some other word that more accurately defines what people want to know about manga?

Not sure how name changes like Zoro to Zolo actually get in the way of the story? Takumi shorten to Tak?

I don't mind the name changes, but something as sloppy as not even getting the Car Data right is a legit gripe.

Yeah I was mostly talking about things that have been altered in manga such as scenes altered for hyper violence or sexual content, or scenes that have been completely taken out. Like what happend to Tenjho Tenge.

Dr. Slump is edited to a degree. Viz itself admits on the copyright page to editing out scenes of underage smoking and drinking (although Taro Soramame does still get to keep his cigarette) -- and has, to that end, changed any references to Akane drinking sake to her drinking "super punch," -- and jokes that refer to underage sexuality/nudity, as well.
Finally, (although they did not admit this, it's pretty noticinble when compared to the original trankoubans) they heavily changed two panels in volume one, one to avoid using copyrighted tokusatsu characters (UltraMan and Ultra 7) and another panel to excise some blatantly sterotypical depictions of black Polynesian/African men.
