Wow. Like the article said, the last time this happened was for Shangri-La but that was because the sales were awful, wonder if the projected sales for this one were bad too.

If only this meant Japan was ending their crazy high prices on anime. Would like to be able to pick up more of the BluRay sets from Japan, but I can only get one a year.

um... this series wasn't exactly excellent, it got a lot of bashing while it was on air [the production team made some very questionable choices regarding the story and the art/animation was pretty sketchy in many episodes] so I guess that yes, it must be like what happened with Shangri-La.

Looks like the animators finally heard the fans' cries. Even the biggest Togainu fans found the TV series to be nearly unwatchable due to its low production quality. After seeing such an amazing trailer from the studio that made beautiful shows like Working!!, the animation was such a letdown that there's no way such an ugly show would sell.

"Togainu No Chi" had a huge potential for success but for some reason, the anime was.....just not that good.

I like to pretend the anime never happened. The Game, the manga were both superior. If you want to check out the franchise, try the game instead.

"Wasn't that great" is an understatement. I'd say it was the worst show of the fall season, if not Hyakka Ryouran: Samurai Girls or Iron Man was. Regardless, it's definitely the worst show I've seen in a while.
Production quality was terrible in that scenes were literally cropped and re-used episode after episode. Action scenes were nowhere near interesting and it really seems like they staff spent more money on the music, particularly ED themes, over anything else in the show.

Shangri-La was mainly Gonzo at the end of their line and for not putting out a "good enough" show, they had no choice but to resort to that. Togainu no Chi on the other hand is simply straight up bad from beginning to end. Visual Novel adaptation or not, it was just that bad

Agreed. I'd imagine that this show's budget (or lack thereof) was the culprit for it's poor reception. There was absolutely nothing in this project that warrants a decent DVD release.

Would it have been better if the sex scenes were included? Anime catgrin

Personally, I enjoyed the show. It's just too bad about how the final episode ended up. Anime dazed

That might help...but then the PS2 True Blood was basically completely cleaned up from its PC version and still managed to be extremely popular. The anime's bad reception was definitely because of how half-assed and wishy washy it was.

It was also censored. If they mentioned removing the censors, putting back in the fighting scenes where the video panned to skyline, it would prob sell better.

Oh yeah and reanimating the final scenes in the last episode.

They should have given us more Shiki from the get go. Laughing

I'd buy it if a reversible cover contained Shiki x Akira.

Fixed.

Samurai Girls wasn't great, but it was no where near as horrible as Togainu, Iron Man (Or any of the Marvel anime for that matter) or Panty and Stocking.
I agree though, it was lazily done, even if it had an interesting concept.
