Vash's hand gun doesn't have a real name by itself, but it does say "45 LONG COLT AGL ARMS FACTORY" on the side, and in its transformed state he referes to it as the "Angel Arm" due probably in part to the "AGL ARMS" imprint and to the shape of the fully transformed gun.

Alucard's first gun is the 454 Casull, his second is the Jackal.

I thought it was Callus(sp?), and not Casull.

For Alucard's guns, try looking here. Just scroll down a little to read about it.

okay, I'd like to point this out:

"From what I hear, it's construction is upside-down, but I could never figure out why"

I honestly don't get it either, can someone explain this?

Who cares? It's just an anime Anime catgrin. Maybe the mechanics designer thought it would look cool or different.

I don't think they necessarily were going for the most realistic portrayal of handheld firearms and such. I mean, you don't exactly see anything like the Angel Arm in real life, right?

If you want to see an anime that gives a more accurate representation on guns, I heard the extras on Gunslinger Girl will get pretty technical on that sort of thing.

That's actually where I went to varify the name of the gun, the production pic was a big help.

Didn't Frank Marlon actually make the guns and Knives simply altered them by sticking a small Plant inside of them? I'd have trouble believing that Knives would make something that would both require bullets and be subject to misalignment. Actually altering a pre-existing gun seem more reasonable.

Also I've heard a good theory that the reason why Vash's gun has so much seemingly wasted space is because the top is weighted to keep it from kicking wildly upwards when fired.

it's IMPOSSIBLE that Frank Marlon made them... well, the series shows anyway Shocked

... and it was like 20 something years prior to present time *I think*

okay, now I'm confused... but I'm THIS sure the site is correct

... err... is it that way in the manga?

Well, Marlon is probably in his 50s and we don't know exactly when Vash and Knives got their guns, but they were in their adult forms so it wasn't imediatly after the crash. If they got their guns twenty years ago then that would have been when Marlon was at his peak.

but then they haven't even MET before then... Knives went into that crashed ship and said he was gonna look for something... or something

Anyway, I am totally sure that MARLON didn't make them at all

he just happened to be very good with guns and was willing to fix it for Vash...

I could watch the series again to make sure, let me just get to the part where Knives whips out the guns... it took a WHOLE YEAR apparently to do whatever it is that he did... maybe he just found the guns on the ship and then added the plants?
