That's a shame, I'm actually a big fan of the Final Destination movies (which don't pretend to be anything other than montages of big disasters and freak accidents) and Final Destination 2, which Ellis directed, might be the strongest of the five.

I'm shocked. Just yesterday I watched Kite and was interested in what be done with the live-action version. This is one of the few anime that could actually work live-action, but I guess that's not going to happen now. A real shame the world loses a good director.

They will probably just hire another director. That said, I liked Snakes on a Plane. Great B movie styled fun.

I hope they don't. I doubt a new director would do as good a job coming in late in pre-production and probably with little attachment to the original material (unless it's Tarantino). Just look at what happened to Final Destination after Ellis left.

To reference "Snakes on a Plane": I'm sick and tired of these mothereffing deaths of mothereffing talented people!

Seriously, Ellis was a pretty fabulous director. "Cellular" is one of the most underrated thrillers I've ever seen, "Final Destination 2" is definitely the best in the series, and "Snakes on a Plane" is nothing but a hilariously wrong good time. This man made some quality movies, and it's a shame to see him past. My heart goes out to his family and friends, and may he rest in peace.

RIP.

This means that the Kite project might be in limbo unless they get another director.

Was it ever revealed who the actress was they cast as Sawa yet?

Suspicious. Don't trust the cops. Check all the skimpy girls in the surveillance cameras.
