I'm planning on buying T.M. Revolution's Seventh Heaven CD, so I figured I might as well get some more Japanese music while I'm at it. I was thinking Neo Soul and a L'arc~en~Ceil CD, so if anyone has it, I'd appreciate a few comments. I'll also take any other suggestions, but please state what kind of music is in it and the CD must be liscenced in the U.S. I don't want to end up with any more bootlegs. I'll take most genres, but I don't particularly like Japanese rap.

X-Japan Seriously, Japan's best rock band ever. They have a cd+dvd combo released by Tofu Records here for an amazingly cheap 20 bucks. If if I only had a little cash to my name till I got my next paycheck, I would personally not eat for a day to buy it. |

The motherf***ing Pillows!
They are not just the best band from Japan; but rather one of the greatest rock bands PERIOD! Penalty Life comes out on Tuesday here (not their best, but still really good). I know you said only US distributed albums; but if you want to import one of the greatest albums ever conceived get Runners High. Every track on that damn album is genius; from the anti-pop Instant Music and the Red Hot Chili Peppers-styled White Ash to the Radiohead-ish Bran-new lovesong and the rockin' title track, you cannot go wrong with it. I will take the following statement to the grave: The Pillows are the Beatles of our generation! Anyone who was lucky enough to score tickets to their US tour knows what I mean. Also, check out Noodles. They're on Sawao-san's Delicious Label; and they're actually the first all-girl rock band that I bought albums of. Buy God Cable , Long Long Chain and Ivy off the Delicious Label English site (need Paypal, though). |

someone likes the pillows.
well, i have two L'Arc CDs. i would have bought more but i've downloaded tons of their songs, and therefore didn't really need the cds...i feel bad but they're rich anyway. Dune, their first CD is not bad, but i like their newer stuff much more. Smile, their latest CD is very good, IMO. I've listened to it probably 100 times and still really love it. Porno Graffitti is a good group. i don't have any of their cds yet tho |

Hm, The Pillows are good...but not that good. I like their music, but all of their songs are too similar in sound and pattern. And their drummer kind of sucks. I enjoy the guitar and the singer's odd voice grows on you, though.

Best Blue's and Best Red's are really both solid compliation albums to get from Porno Graffiti. I own both of them and don't really tire of their music at all. They cover a wide variety of styles - Blues, Pop, Rock, Ska, and even Latin. IMO, they are one of the best bands out there, Japanese or otherwise. http://www.cdjapan.co.jp/detailview.html?KEY=SECL-88 and http://www.cdjapan.co.jp/detailview.html?KEY=SECL-87 |

If price is your main reason for sticking with domestic, all of the "Overseas" versions at YesAsia are legit. |

well, yeah, i guess there's a remote possibility that i'll have money to burn on cd's that i already have the songs from, but it isn't likely. was that piss poor too?

If you are looking for rock... then I highly recommend the following:
- High and Mighty Color** - Asian Kung Fu Generation** - KM-Markit (Hip Hop) - Ellegarden (hard to find, but incredibly awesome)** - Move - The Pillows - Sea Gull Screaming Kiss Her - Go!Go!7188 - Straightener - L'arc En Ciel** - Rip Slyme - The Brilliant Green - Gackt - Do As Infinity** (some of theirs is rock, its hard to classify, but its between the lines of pop and rock, very very good nonetheless) |

Porno Graffitti The Alfee (It's rather different. Sounds like classic rock, yet not) Orange Range Asian Kung-Fu Generation Psycho le Cemu (Some of their music varies from rock to pop or a mix of the two) Kimeru Siam Shade (Disbanded but who cares) Luna Sea (Also disbanded) X-Japan (Well-known for a reson) Malice Maizer (Continuing where X-Japan left off, more gothic) Rapheal (Disbanded like everyone else) Glay (Mix of pop and rock at times) Shanza (I can describe with oone word: pink! ) Charcoal Filter |

You people don't seem to realize that he/she said they have to be liscened in the United States. So basically about 80% of the bands that are mentioned here aren't what you're looking for.

Except you seem to didn't seem to realize that he/she said that because of the concerns regarding bootlegs. (Mind you, that should have been in full size text as well.) As such, it's more a matter of pointing to the type of music desired, regardless of where it's located, as long as it's a legitimate release. After all, that will open the doors to getting what is desired while still keeping the saftey net attatched. Of course, although I did post links, most others have not. |
