There are a handful of things I like better about the K-On! manga, most notably the "hints" about Tsumugi they never really touched on in the anime, but it definitely is a story that works much, much better as an anime, and not just because you can actually hear the music. It's a case where the anime's filler "padding" actually enhances the story by not rushing through the key emotional plot point beats just to have another easy gag 4 panels later.
Also, the visually-suggestive substitution they used in the anime is funnier than actually seeing Mio's panties in the manga. |

No. Just....just no. And while I'd like to say "...at least it ain't the anime, or the Melty Blood manga", the problem is...it's just as frickin bad as those two. :/ |

Disagree. "I'll Give It My All" > Ayako, since it has a sense of build-up, while Ayako just goes through the motions rather than upping the stakes.

There is No Tsukihime Anime While I agree that the Tsukihime anime has problem and that the Melty Blood manga is pretty bad, the Tsukihime manga is gooood and is probably my favorite male power fantasy. So I just want to let you know, I didn't read the original VN and I disagree with your comment. |

Thanks for reviewing Ayako. The title has been on my radar for a long time now.
I'm bummed that I'll Give It My All...Tomorrow only got a C-. The first book took a while to hook me, but it eventually did just that. As always, thanks for the great review! |

If Yen Press actually reads these comments, I'd like them to know that I *would* buy Tsukihime 7+. Even if printed in a different size and cover style so it ended up looking weird on my shelf. It was, quite frankly, one of the series I most regret being unable to finish.

I tend to get rid of any manga series I have that are incomplete due to the publisher shutting down, because why keep a series that's never going to be finished? I made a couple exceptions, notably Life and of course Tsukihime, because although unfinished they're still too good to take out of my library. I don't know about Yen Press specifically, but it would be great if anyone picked up these two titles at all. Seven Seas picked up Blood Alone (another title I couldn't get rid of) from Infinity Studios after all, so maybe it's only a matter of time?
And for those who say "There's no Tsukihime Anime", I digress completely. The Geneon box set is there sitting on one of my many Anime shelves, and while I admit a little more work could've been done on the ending I think it's a beautiful series and one of my favorites. On the other hand, the manga still is definitely more interesting in a lot of ways for the reasons the reviewer gave, and if some other publisher picks it up, I'd love to know how this version concludes. That reminds me of MW. Dear God was that something else.
Again, I'm reminded of MW, right down to an absurd finale (though there was no justice and that fact I saw the ending coming a gigantic mile away when the twin was introduce really resulted in a not pleasant response from me). Screw it, the whole evidence against Ayako reminded me of my experience with MW and frankly, I rather not ever remember that book. Looks like I'm skipping out on that book. |

driver: I actually liked MW, but that had build-up. So far, though, it's the only gekiga manga from him I dig. [Does Apollo's Song count as Gekiga or Seinen?] I understand how you'd feel about it, though, 'cus MW is effed up at times. But if it helps, Ayako's a little less extreme.

I agree. MW had build-up and it was good, but the ending I ended up hating a lot so the build-up felt wasted on it. Also, MW is effed up at times? It's almost effed up every chapter! Ayako is a little less extreme? I don't know, I'm not sure I want to check it out regardless. Tezuka, when extreme, scares and creeps the hell out of me. MW and also, now that I think about it, Ode to K. were a bit too much me. |
