I was hoping they'd find a Windsor for Kon, but I guess that means we just have to pester them next year.

I was excited at first, until I realized that
1, Its the Annies, if its not American it won't win 2. Its going up against the Academy line-up Unlike the Academy awards, PR for this is very niche, and I don't even know why they nominated him tbh, just pissin in the wind at this point |

Would have much rather seen him get nominated for The Girl Who Leapt Through Time, but I guess this isn't bad.

Well at least he got a nod. Saying that the director got nominated but not the film for anything means he has low odds of winning.
Doesn't the Annie list also reflect the Oscar list? Dreamworks really dominated the awards nomination this year. They should pat themselves on the back for this. |

Not really. Plus this is a Directors award, not their Best Picture (Best Animated Feature) one. The Annie Best Picture Award category is as follows:

Anyone with a membership can vote for these, not just experts, and Dreamworks buys memberships to all its employees when they are hired. This means they can all vote for their own products more easily than Pixar's employees can, hence why Kung Fu Panda beat Wall-E two years ago in spite of the latter being a much superior movie in both technical and narrative aspects (even though I was underwhelmed by it thanks to too much hype). In fact, Pixar no longer really campaigns for Annies, since they consider the whole thing rigged. Soooo.... yeah. |

Wow, one of three of their movies against the two of two Disney put out (including Pixar). Yeah, total domination. |

The Academy Best Animated Feature award this year will only have three nominees, though I suspect all three of the final nominees are on that list (probably How to Train Your Dragon, The Illusionist and Toy Story 3, all deserving of nomination). |

Not really. The Annies are voted on mainly by animators and enthusiasts. Many of them aren't American or doesn't care if it's not American.
Yes, even anime fans, for just $75/yr or $30/yr for students. So if ya guys want to vote, you can vote, unlike in the Oscars. |

Well if you looked at the other nomination lists, you'd see the Dreamworks domination that I was referring to. |
