I'm starting this topic because I just started a manga that I'm not sure if I should continue. The manga in question is BLACK BIRD and initially, I was going to ask Black Bird, does it get better? But it seems pointless to make a thread about one particular manga and I couldn't think of another thread where I could ask about it.
So I'm sure others have had a similar problem. Hence the creation of this topic. So any one else have an answer for me about Black Bird? And feel free to ask about other mangas as well. Hopefully we can all help each other out.

Well, what part of Black Bird are you on the fence about? I ask because I'm 3 books in and I still feel lukewarm about the series, but the only reason that I do is because Misao and Kyo's relationship creeps me out.
It's a funny series. Both my sister and my best friend go gaga over it. >.> So, it might be one of those manga that you either fall in love with or you don't. Then again, my old roommate assured me that I would become a fan "Just as soon as you get to ______ part!", so maybe it does get better?
tldr: I'm 1/2 of the way through what's currently out, and I'm asking the same question. xD

Yeah, I sorta feel the same way. The relationship part is interesting but so far, nothing much else is happening. Based on the first volume, it's shaping up to be a demon-slaying of the week story. Unless maybe that fox spirit shows up again and becomes an equally interesting rival. So far, it's looking like the answer is "no".

I'd say to continue it (it does develop more of a coherent story in later volumes), but my advice is to drop all of your standards on what a relationship is supposed to be like, because the relationship in Black Bird is one of the most messed up, dysfunctional relationships I've ever read in a shojo manga.

What bothers me is that they portray this type of relationship as "okay" and even "romantic" at times.
Oh silly Misao, he only frightens you because he luffs you!

Actually, I'm ok with the relationship and yes, I realize it's messed up. But it is fiction and I'm capable of seperating fantasy from reality. My problem is, does the story go anywhere? Does it get interesting? Cause so far, it hasn't.

I dont know if it gets better I know for me Fruits BAsket got a lot better latter on when it got more serious but as far as Black Bird goes I wince anytime I see somebody pick up a copy of it, I just want to give them a copy of Kimi ni Todoke and say "please read this as a counter balance."
