I wonder if they'll be doing anything with the Kenshin OVAs.
Quote: | They will also stream Read or Die, Ghost Slayers Ayashi, and Toward the Terra soon on YouTube. |
I hope the home video sales work out for them on those shows.

Shinra won?
Seriously? That's not a typo? Not Shizuo? Not Izaya?
Must have been a much different DRRR!! fanbase there.

Quote: | Also for Durarara!!, they will probably keep the original Japanese voice actor track when they're speaking Russian, and may include liner notes for the "text speak" in the chat room scenes in Durarara!!. |
Why can't the English actors do that? This reminds of when companies leave in Japanese songs in the English dub, it creates huge discontinuity. It's one step below changing actors in the middle of a show.
Quote: | Kodaka also noted that right now they have the rights to the Kara no Kyoukai - the Garden of sinners multi-part film, but they are negotiating with a partner. Kodaka said he hopes to bring it over "quite soon." |
I tried watching these a while ago, but didn't find them too terribly interesting and only managed to get through the first 4. However, I think a dub, should it receive one, could help since I wouldn't be tempted to wonder my eyes (I know others are the complete opposite). Between a dub and the gorgeous visuals- which I even noticed on the low quality streams I used-, I'd consider buying them.

WHAT! They're not bringing back J Micheal Tatum and Caitlin Glass for Isaac and Miria!? That's some bullshit. They only make a brief appearance, can't they just fly the two out to LA for a day?
Bang Zoom, you disappoint me once again with your laziness...

Well at this point we don't know what BZ is planning on doing on the subject of Isaac and Miria's voices. That said, I will mention again that Catlin Glass moved to Europe earlier this year and probably wasn't going to be available for Durarara no matter who was dubbing it (I mentioned it in another thread - basically while her role in FMA:B and a few others are covered, she isn't going to be doing much VA work for the foreseeable future). I would hope BZ would attempt to use J Micheal, seeing the part is small and I think it might qualify for a union waver (and they could probably even do it via conference call or internet hook up, which might cover Catlin if she wanted to do it) but I think it is more realistic to prepare for a recast verse it actually happening .

You have a point about Glass, but still, they've said outright the're not going to use them. It's in the article.
"In the Q&A it was revealed that they will not use the same English voice actors for the Baccano! characters that make an appearance in Durarara!!. They are using Bang Zoom! Entertainment for the dubbing of Durarara!!."

Strange, I would have figured Ghost Slayers Ayashi and Toward the Terra would be streaming on Bandai's channel instead...

Now I'm certain I won't be giving a shit regarding the dub...
Aniplex = Fail #2. Not counting the Gurren.

DVD license != streaming license
Both shows were licensed prior to Bandai starting to stream shows on the net. If there wasn't sufficient enough interest to make it worth their while to go back and renegotiate the licenses, then they wouldn't bother.

Well, I was already looking forward to DRRR!! but it's good to hear Crispin Freeman's playing Shizuo. I think it's a good fit.
For me, though, the highlight of this announcement is the sort of off-hand remark about Kara no Kyoukai. I think a box set a la Mnemosyne, hopefully with a dub, would be great.

Well, I'm glad I read this, otherwise I wouldn't have known "Kara no Kyoukai" was getting an official release. Neat.

So they're putting out reproductions of the Japanese booklets instead of translating them? Did anyone manage to ask if they plan to translate the booklets in other releases (because I'm sure I'm not alone when I say I want to be able to actually read what the darn things say).
Little puzzled by the Russian thing, I've heard that the Russian wasn't even that good in the Japanese dub so it might've been better if they had dubbed it.

Because the English actors can't speak Russian, maybe?
Off the top of my head, I know Samurai Champloo did this for characters speaking in Dutch, and nobody seemed to have a problem with that.

I missed seeing that yesterday in the article. You can check the other threads covering this for more on my thoughts on the subject (there's more than one going on here covering this issue and where I'm posting what is starting to get confusing ).
