What are some titles that aren't very popular, that y'all are fond of anyway? Not like "underrated" so much as "everyone else thinks it's crap".
Personally, I love Black Jack the Movie. I had read a lot of negative reviews of it before watching -- but the movie really grew on me and I enjoy it despite its flaws. (Yeah, it has a few, but maybe not as many as its horrible reputation would have one believe )
Most people complain that it's boring, melodramatic, and full of bad science.

I would consider myself a Kampfer fanboy, though I've never once read a good review about it. Though, it would be itself popular, since I heard its selling well, and it made the charts in Japan when it was released.

Red Garden is one of my favorites, but a ton of people are turned off from it by the art style alone, which I never once had a problem with.

Um...Betterman I guess? It's got a list of flaws a mile long (pacing issues, too much exposition, uneven mood and tone, a protagonist who seems like he walked in from an entirely different series...) and it's made up of lots of different elements which should work well together...and kind of don't. I can definately see why no one ever talks about it...or has ever talked about it now that I think of it...It's a real mess of a series if you ask me.
...and yet it was really entertaining in my opinion, and I'd recommend it towards anyone who's in the mood for something weird and obscure...and is VERY patient, forgiving and open minded.

That would be one of mine as well.
Speed Grapher-Apparently a lot people don't like this because of the poor animation quality or it's general wierdness of it. Personally I enjoyed the show.
Rin: Daughter of Mnemosyne-I know this one is pretty unpopular with the folks who were watching it when it first came out. I don't know about now.
Gundam Seed Destiny-Most people who are fans of Gundam hated this for some reason. It definitely wasn't as bad as some people made it out to be. I liked Seed and found this interesting as well aside from all the recap episodes.

As I recall the first couple of episodes were well-received despite some pretty gruesome scenes. Personally I thought the show went downhill quickly when the focus shifted in the second half from Rin's cases to some silly supernatural battle story.

For me it would be
Ergo Proxy - Everyone seems to think it is well animated, boring, pretentious crap.
Shingu - Secret of the stellar wars - of the handful of people who have seen it most think it is just dull and boring with a future that deosn't look like a future.
Kaze No Stigma - Most people think it is just poorly animated and generic.
and yet I love all of these shows.

Aw, really? Right on, bro--never met another fan of that series on these boards since it's pretty obscure.

Heat Guy J gets a lot of flak, but I've always enjoyed it's nice, laid back characters and atmosphere, not to mention Nobuteru Yuki's lovely character designs. Wish more people would give the series a chance.

it wasn't bad, the problem is the ending leaves to much open and there is no closure in most plot points.

Well closure was kind of hard to get from a deceased author I'd imagine....

CLAMP School- everyone's so nice! To the point of ridiculousness. But don't worry, they're all doomed to join the cast of X/1999!
Glass Fleet- this is such a strange show, with a magical rainbow space that you can somehow breathe in, floating colonies that resemble revolution-era France w/wine gardens on Asteroids, everyone constantly have tea, and a really convulted plotline. Yet, I just sort of liked it. The extra radio drama is even more nutty [it's right up there in my fave extras w/the Simoun VA Game Shows, and the rather long Sakura Wars musical promos on the OVA's]
Orguss 02 OVA- love the theme song, and the designs. The cast are all sort of horrible people, but nevertheless compelling. I prefer the dub version- I actually liked the changes in the music.
There's way more then this, but these 3 are ones I assume aren't super-high one most people's lists.

Super Robot Wars. I wish the first series got more of a push here. BVUSA wasn't the best home for it.

Ha ha--Betterman sounds extremely fascinating, especially since it has most of the same flaws Black Jack the Movie has.
