Sounds.. well, not all that interesting to me to be honest, but time will tell.
I assume I'm right in akaneko and mizuneko translating as "red cat" and "water cat"? I think I do see someone in those sketches on his monitor that looks to be wearing a raincoat with a cat-eared hood. --edit-- Oh hang on - the newer blog post has much clearer pictures (like an idiot I took another look at the old one but forgot to look at the new one) An all female firefighting team = interest increasing somewhat. From the notes it looks like that might actually be a cat (Hibuse) in a raincoat. Chinka herself reminds me a bit of Suzu from Amuri in Star Ocean. Also of note: "Chinka is not only an anime but also does things like teach history and also increase the awareness of being careful with fire. This year just happens to be the year where Japanese households are required to fit smoke detectors too - been working with the Japanese fire department on this project shortly after I met their head at the Coming of Age Day 2010." |

Doesn't sound very appealing, but the title alone puts it in a class along with Chop Socky Chooks of titles that I would feel very uncomfortable saying out loud among mixed company.

... is it wrong that I laughed at the title?
Also, this sounds like Patlabor crossed with Moe firefighter girls. |

It really depends on whether you were thinking it sounds like "chinko" and is all about girls holding hoses. |

Sounds rather cliched to me, nothing new to see. Oh well, I'll just wait until trailers to pop up for a better idea.

The concept sounds so novel and could be a lot of fun if done with a good amount of energy and humor. I thought he would start things off with a more generic story, but I really like that he is doing something more imaginative and with more potential. Best of luck!

Seeing as the company's introduction of the anime to the world was a piece of writing with several errors in grammar, I can't see the final product being all that great...

I love the artwork. And when I saw and read about Shoka, I was thinking how she would probably be my favorite character. As it turns out so does the majority in the survey at the bottom

I love how he added production sketches. they look really cool.
I must question the character designs and plot though.... :-/ |

Big flock of girls with neatly compartmentalized personality types do [insert concept here] plot? At least one character's personality simply described as "imagine something similar to" a couple of popular moe characters? Character designs that I find wholly repugnant and irritating (where the hell are their damn noses? They look like they've been cauterized off in some pics)? Title which is hilariously/uncomfortably close to a racist slur?
Damn, looks like somebody got a hold of my personal do not want list and went to town. Oh well, I can easily ignore it. More... whatever this is for those who can appreciate it, I suppose. I think I'm mostly annoyed that I just realized I'd probably be quite interested in seeing an actual serious business anime about firefighting, especially if it aimed for realism. This reads more like a "moe girls do X" show, which is... not my thing, to put it charitably. (Muscular guys breaking down flaming doors with big honking axes, on the other hand...) |

I never thought I'd say this but. I can safely say I'm burnt out on these moe shows. I mean I'm all for cute and all but this is just pushing it for me. Can't really expect much from his first anime outing, since I guess they're playing it safe with these character cut-outs.

Throw me in with all the the unexcited responses so far. The quality of design sketches and artwork shown all look competent, though without seeing it in motion that doesn't mean much. But the actual plot/characters/character designs are so hackneyed I'm rolling my eyes before ever seeing it. Maybe there'll be a miracle and it'll be good, but I think it's a lot more likely that I'll find it insufferable.
Though it's not about firefighting, you might want to give Yomigaeru Sora - RESCUE WINGS a look. No gaggle of teenage girls there, adult characters, realistic approach - who am I kidding, that's probably why it's almost completely overlooked. |

Those are some weird leg drawings!
Hmmm... whenever I think of firefighter projects, I keep thinking of Fahrenheit 451. |
