Anyone who's seen the Hikaru no Go anime from the beginning probably remembers the first introduction sequence featuring the song "Get Over." When I first heard it, I watched without the benefit of subtitles and interpreted the song as being about being a tag team in professional wrestling. If anyone is unfamiliar, the term 'getting over' in wrestling means to get a reaction from the crowd. I thought this idea matched well to the series because of its connotations with competition. However, when I watched through the intro with Viz Media's subtitles turned on, I almost got the impression that the song was basically a love ballad.
Does anyone have any ideas? I realize I could be seriously over-thinking the whole thing. Thank you very much. |
