Yeah, best to stick to the original American comics. Marc Silvestri knows what he's doing.

I agree 100% with this review. I didn't pay for it, but it still felt like the reading of it was a waste of time.

I just have to comment that the gal on the cover looks like she's gonna take a dump. I guess that might be a plus for some fans!

I can't believe they're printing another version! So let me get this straight... you can buy the first printing in two $10 black-and-white digest volumes, published by Bandai. You can buy the second printing, on glossy pages and in full color, by Top Cow & Bandai, for $20 (ISBN 1582408564 - and yes, I own it, and it's definitely just a colored version of the bandai manga). Or now you can buy a new collection in black and white on cheap paper, for $25 from Bandai (ISBN 1604961902)? How do they expect to sell this, with a better printing available at a lower price?
I agree with the review, by the way; the book was a mashup of lame cliches that wasn't worth reading. However, I'd say that if you really wanted to read this series, you're best off spending your money on the Top Cow version because it has full-color art and glossy pages. The Top Cow folks did a really nice job of coloring the art. |

So... just like American Witchblade then? Of all the comics to get the anime treatment, it had to be the god awful 90s 'all style, no substance' hold over, Witchblade. Come on, give us a Judge Dredd* anime. Or, Savage Dragon. Or Hellboy. Or Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. *seriously, am I the only one who thinks Judge Dredd would make for a killer 80s style cyberpunk OVA throwback anime? Ghost in the Shell with more Machismo. That's what I want to do to my copies of the manga. I was dumb being a HUGE Witchblade fan and bought both volumes at the same time when they first came out. Sweet Jesus did I ever regret that. To me Carlo saying the second part was better is like saying the pile of shit in your right hand smells better than the pile of shit in your left. Either way you're standing there with shit in both hands. As a Witchblade fan of the highest order the manga just disappointed me on so many levels. I mean at least the anime even being heavy fanservice laden really worked because of the onds between Rihoko and Misane. Their bond made the anime worth watching just in itself. In the manga though Takeru and Kou's friendship/relationship never seemed to work properly. It felt too forced and ridiculous. I'm a highschool and long time friend of this girl who magically turns into some demon killing blood thirsty savage but yet I am going to rush in to save her. Yea.....any normal high school kid would be running the other damn way. Even for an anime relationship this one felt stale and completely one sided to me. I could go on more but there's no point. Don't read the manga, read the original comic (preferably only up to issue 100 or so because since then it's been hurting) or watch the anime. |
