I understand her being attracted to a white guy, but I'm just surprised she's ok with a guy with that much facial hair who looks like he's twice her age. Anyway, I hope Viz licenses it, 'cus it sounds like it could have cross-over appeal, especially since it looks more like a low-budget Hollywood movie made in Japan.

I used to watch this on the Chuo Line on my way to college in Tokyo. It had a pretty good following and should do well. I will see this for sure sometime.

I agree. What the hell kind of uniform is that? Dress Civvies? ;P
On topic: this might be an interesting thing to watch. I think it'd be fascinating to see things from the perspective of someone who marries an American and stays in their own country with him.

Good question. It's probably because the books are both non-fiction and that weird hybrid "manga-essay" format that defies easy classification.
On a different note, I've said it before and I'll say it again: whoever gave it that lame "turning Japanese" title in English needs to be shot for never having actually read the books, and ANN really needs to stop using it in their headlines. While Tony is certainly better-versed in Japanese history, culture and customs than a lot of Japanese people, how he got that way is not the point of the books (not to mention that the euphemism for masturbation is unwelcome as a title). Rather, it's how Saori and Tony play off each other, and continually learn from each other's differing habits and cultural misunderstandings.

But…it's not in this story's headline.

The tagline, then, or whatever it's called. The part that appears on the front page. (Though personally, I would prefer they not use it at all.)
