I like how the character designs themselves are more detailed in the important areas than the anime (more focus on midriff and breast details, for instance). I really hope one of these days the mangaka just goes all the way and shows the boobs.

I hope not, as I'd rather not see this show go down the DxD route.

Yes, but in more ways than one.

When one hears of a beach/hot spring episode, one certainly thinks about fan service for the male audience. In this case however, there are many female fans who are waiting for the OAD, the reason being shipping fan service (as evidence for this, look at the comments in the youtube video). I think this way of pleasing the audience is one of the main reasons why Fairy Tail is popular. Even if the manga doesn't have much romance in it, Mashima has created quite many potential couples/reasonable pairings, and these pairs of characters sometimes share cute "moments" between them, about which the fangirls can get excited. To me it seems like a very conscious decision by the author.

To have a counter example from the same genre, One Piece doesn't seem pay much attention shipping fans (I heard that Oda has stated that there won't romance in One Piece, [of course, this is not going to stop the shipping]).

Nothing will ever beat Catgirl Outfit Lucy in the first OVA.

Though I wish Virgo got more screentime. Masochist maids are strangely appealing.

One of the main reasons I still watch one piece, no romance between the main 9.

Why does mashima even bother showing jet and droy anymore? They're just going to end up dead or becoming gajeel's love support.
