FYI, The Tyrant Falls in Love wasn't released at all by DQ. They kept promising vol 1 but never delivered. It was to be their next release.
I'm very glad the title was rescued though, along with Kizuna. I've been waiting to read the end of that one for a long time.

Yesss! Kizuna! Awesome. I hope more of Kodaka's works will be released over here (especially Kusatta!)

Woo, Kizuna got saved! Now we just need to hope someone saves Viewfinder.
Such a shame Be Beautiful and CPM went under.

It seems there's already a bidding war over VF. It's only a matter of time...
I'm actually surprised Kizuna got rescued. It's an older title and most of it was released by CPM before they went bankrupt. I'm not complaining, and actually, I think I'm going to purge my old English volumes and replace them with the new Delux editions.
The best annoucement, though, was for Tyrant (the Tateno title was only a matter of time). It both puts away any hope of a DQ resurrection, and makes it almost definite that we will actually see this title released in English in our lifetimes.

I think there was a small release run of Tyrant volume 1.
I've actually seen a secondhand copy on sale on EBAY Australia back in mid 2008.
At that point, I had my preorder in so I didn't bid for it. Have been kicking myself ever since.
Someone mentioned they might have sold a few copies at one of the yaoicons. |
My copy has been on order since 7/10/06. Now the ongoing excuse was always the quality was not satisfactory when they came back from the printers which suggests some were indeed printed, but it really sounded like an excuse. I don't buy any copies were misprinted
Kizuna wasn't a huge fav for me, but it was a nice title & worthy. I am awaiting Viewfinder but I will pick up Kizuna
But yeah Tyrant!

Glad to see more Makoto Tateno and Toko Kawai's. However I was hoping for Youka Nitta and Ayano Yamane's titles to be licensed. I think it is great that Kizuna has been rescued, though it is not a favorite of mine. I will still get it, though.

OMFG YONEDA KOU?! I purchased the Japanese version of Doushitemo Furetakunai last year thinking I would never, ever see it being licensed here. I am so glad that I was wrong. Every single original title, one-shot, and doujinshi I've read by her has been memorable and she has become one of my favorites very fast. Just...omg!
More Toko Kawai, Hinako Takanaga and Yaya Sakuragi titles are always awesome and I'm really glad to see that Seven Days: Monday-Thursday got picked up, too. <3

Awww, I was hoping for Embracing Love although it seems impossible after her scandal so now, I'm really happy that Kizuna & Tyrant have been rescued and hopefully, Viewfinder would be next. I'm looking to next-year's titles, there's many mangakas I like except for Makoto, she has lots of her works being licensed but I don't dislike her; I just wanted to see a variety of mangakas in the future. =)
I guess it's time to put away my Kizuna's old edition (CPM) in the box. ^^

I, too, was hoping for Embracing Love and other of Youka Nitta's works such as Boku no Koe and more of The Prime Minister's Secret Diplomacy. I hope it is not entirely impossible for her works to get licensed now.
While I am a big fan of Makoto Tateno, I don't find all her works as good. Her best works would be Yellow, Hero Heel, and Blue Sheep Reverie.

Why do they need 3 imprints (801 Media, June, etc,)?

Considering that Aurora's LuvLuv line seems to have done badly and was cancelled, I'm not sure DMP's plan to license Harlequin books is a good idea...
