It's "Kick-Heart". Why can't they just that?

Unless there's some other 10 minute short by Yuasa and IG we've never heard about until now...

My guess is that the "Kick-Heart" project and its funding isn't as well known in Japan as it is here due to Kickstarter being an English-based crowdsourcing site. It might still be a "surprise" to Japanese audiences where as over here it's common knowledge at this point.

It would be a little disingenuous to have the anime showing only 10-days after the deadline. Even more-so had the minimum funding level not been reached.

Not really. The conceptual art and storyboards were pretty much done and that's what takes the longest. Getting 10 minutes of animation done in a little over a week shouldn't be any issue.

The new kick-heart update has pretty much confirmed it:

Though by the looks of it, it's not the complete product, but a work-in-progress version.
