I came upon a topic thread from 2004 , lol. The discussion was about the diferencess between Ninja Resurection and Ninja Scroll. Although the thread obviously died out I would like to bring it back.

posters said that Jubei yagyu from NR was a completly diferent character than NS jubei kibagami, to shed some light on this in case some of you didn't know the writer of NS himself said that the character Jubei kibagami was directly based on history true Jubei yagyu.

I have always loved this movie and the NS series and have long awaited a Hollywood based film portraying the greatest swordsman to ever walk this planet. Although they would probably just hack it to death like they did with Dragonball Evolution which was a decent movie but had absolutly nothing to do with the anime.

If you would like to discuss NS or NR please post here as i would love to hear what others think of these great classic anime's

I started watching Ninja Scroll and stopped at episode 5 or 7 and I don't see what's so epic about it to be even worth of a movie.

Thats your opinion and your welcome to it. The animated movie was better than the series maybe you should give that a shot.

Well the anime wasn't epic but it was still good, last time I watched it was over 1 year ago. Will give it a shot again sometime.

To be honest, I've only ever seen Ninja Scroll the movie, and then not to completion. I spotted it on Sci-Fi one day, thought it sounded interesting, and loved it....but was caught up in something else. What I did see, though, was amazing! That's how I knew what you were talking about after two years, and only seeing about an hour of it. And so please, someone, where can I get a hold of the series?

I really love the Ninja Scroll movie,I've heard that the anime wasn't that spectacular. I have not seen it yet so I can't give a informed answer.

First of all:

A) Ninja Scroll has absolutely nothing to do with Ninja Resurrection whatsoever aside from some small similarities in genre and character names.
B)The Ninja Scroll TV series was made after the movie, and the plotlines are also completely different. (The movie is better I agree).

Now that's out of the way. I'd watch more of the Ninja Scroll franchise, if they made it, personally. It was good but not spectacular or anything.

Ninja Resurrection, however, was awful and unfinished pointless garbage. Discs of this series should be purified with fire or otherwise used as drink coasters in my opinion. Wink

I have to agree, Kruszer. I saw Ninja Scroll way back when I first got into anime. I later bought some of the series but could never really get into it.

I also bought Ninja Resurrection and the sequel around the same time. NR, while extremely graphic, at least had an interesting story. The sequel, however, was nothing but pointless slaughter. I felt like my VCR needed an exorcism after watching that! Evil or Very Mad It's a shame because the story had potential but the creators, for some reason, became overly obsessed with making it as violent and offensive as they possibly could. It's a good thing that I was aware that there were other kinds of anime because I would have been scared off otherwise.

That is correct the two have nothing to do with each other but the character from ninja scroll Jubei Kibagami was based off the real life jubei Yagyu, it just so happens that Jubei Yagyu is in Ninja Ressurection. Jubei Yagyu being a real life historic person and bad ass with a blade, he even become bored with swords and made his own weapon out of a real strong wood, and still wooped ass on master swordsman who where using a real blade, this guy was a beast and can be found in manga, anime, video games and japanese film..

You can probably find the ninja scroll series at blockbuster, or just google it and you may be able to download the episodes

The Ninja Scroll movie is awesome. It's not exactly deep or anything but it's the ultimate anime action movie. It's cool, stylish and bad ass, with a variety of freaks to be bloodily dismembered. I'd absolutely be interested in seeing a sequel (and to a lesser extent a Hollywood adaptation.) That's just me though. For people in general, I still think the original movie maintains some popularity but probably less than other violent old classics. (Akira for example). This has been further eroded by the following TV series though which is one of the worst anime ever made. It's like the polar opposite of the movie. It's ridiculously cheesy, lame and filled with the stupidest villains ever. Yuck.
