I read both this and the Bloody Twins' volume on the same night in Barnes and Noble. I only bought this one. Pretty much speaks for itself.
Boris is my 2nd favorite choice of Alice's "suitors" - my first being Julius, and I'm starting to wonder if I'm the only one who feels that way - so I've been enjoying his series quite a bit. He's still more aggressive than I'm completely comfortable with, but they do a good job making it obvious that his forcefulness is without malice, and more just ignorance about how he should be acting.
Also, as someone who has been owned by cats all her life (and if you think it should be the other way around, you've never lived with a cat yourself...lol) I was impressed by how they blended his cat-like qualities with that of a teenage boy. My male kitty acts a lot like Boris, really. He just takes more naps.
The "dark sexual edge" of the other characters does get pretty disturbing, though. Especially Blood. I was really surprised - and creeped out - when I first discovered that Blood was Alice's choice in the first series.
Though I haven't been commenting on much of anything recently, I would like to say that I've been enjoying all the shoujo reviews you've been doing, Rebecca! I've done several blind buys based on your reviews, and I haven't regretted a single one.

Shouldn't be a surprise, bad boys, both literal and figurative, have always been popular with the ladies. Even if we wish it was otherwise.
It was the art that got me into the series. Wasn't too happy to discover that each book is an alternate telling of a different romance for Alice. Sadly for me the art still keeps me interested.

Glad to see this get a pretty good review, I quite like this series. Boris is just so amazingly sexy...I do agree that the guys in this series can be quite...overbearing, though.

You're right, of course. I guess what threw me was that usually bad boys have a little more work put in them to make them seem more...attractive. Give them a tragic back story, or a really horrible set of circumstances that they are making the best they can with, or some honorable goal that they've taken to dangerous extremes...something, you know? I just felt like he wasn't given any of that.
Granted, I never read the last book. I was so deflated by the knowledge that he was her choice that I lost all interest. So, there may have been something in that final book that would have filled that void that I found in his story....and I'll admit, I was rooting for someone else the whole time, so I may have just missed what made him so attractive to Alice. But all I can remember is that he looked like her ex. Really?
Edit: whoops! My post was in response to TarsTarkas' post.
