What concerns me is the lack of discusion about security. Its good to enjoy yourself, but I'd be more concerned if I didn't see a couple of security guards at least once during my convention journey.
Can't be too careful now and days, not everyone means what they say and not everyone wants peace and harmony. |

A lot of conventions rely on volunteer security (coordinated by staff with volunteers doing basic stuff like showing people around, telling them to keep to certain areas). But I agree, it's good for cons that have adequate finances to purchase some kind of official security (or else work something out with local authorities) to help supplement volunteers and staff who may lack appropriate training for certain situations.
