Isn't it kinda sad that a relatively respected name like Yuasa needs a kickstarter to get his funding? Confused Anyway, I went with the $60 pledge, hopefully they'll hit their goal.

a 2D animated short that will be about 20 minutes long.
All I see is 10 minutes being talked about on the Kickstarter page.

Very excited and already pledged.

Man I love Yuasas work I really hope this succeeds and he gets $150,000 though I somehow highly doubt it.

It's about time for Japanese production studio to utilize Kickstarter to make original animation. Very Happy

I'm more curious as to why Yuasa is using Kickstarter for this. Did he part ways with Madhouse?

Yuasa's work on Kickstarter? Brilliant idea! His work is under appreciated and underfunded. Mind Game and Kaiba haven't gotten a US release and I don't think the few copies that sold here in Australia have helped as much as I would have liked.

It must be great for him to see $1,000s pouring in on the first day. Hopefully this gets funded so we can see more alternative/arthouse projects launch.

Cool and all, but I'm not paying $60 for a 10 minute movie on BD, donation or not.

Kickstarter is something Madhouse should use to fund their projects. They tend to make a lot of great looking stuff that just has no marketability and that's probably one of the reasons why they've had financial problems.

I hope IG pulls through here and shows Kickstarter is viable for anime as well.

They should have the time extended. It's hard to get the word out about various projects and kickstarter doesn't make it any easier. They only have a weekly newsletter highlighting a few things, most of which I'm not interested in, and there's no way to be notified out the types of projects you are interested in

Went with the $250 donation. Totally worth it for more Masaaki Yuasa work, even if I imagine there will be no subtitles on the download and Bluray. The key art print alone is worth it.
