Well, who's playing the parts? If they're not Japanese, it's not an anime live action. It's a Hollywood B-movie.

Wow.
Heh.
I never read the manga, but I know what it is, and I really don't know how to feel about that.

I rate this R for Retarded.
But in all seriousness, it would be rated R right? With all the fanserivce and such I don't think they'd get away with PG-13.
if I remember correctly doesn't one of the girls in this manga put her crocth in a guys face and kill him?

Considering the liberties that their 'translation' of the manga takes, this is probably not a good thing.
But then, the whole concept is a bad idea.

Who wants to bet they just took whatever they were working on for Real Bout and slapped on the name of a more recent manga?
But really, of ALL the titles in their library, they pick Ikki Tousen?

Remember these are the folks that renamed "Ikki Tousen" to "Battle Vixens" for the manga. So this lame "treatment" shouldn't be a great surprise to anyone.

How this title got picked for a live adaption is beyond me.
This is awesome, since I was just saying there weren't enough really good live adaptions from anime and manga...
and this helps support that statement.

That's been done in a James Bond movie, GoldenEye. I don't remember the rating on that one though.

Indeed. Why not Chobits?

To tell you the truth while live action adaption of any anime tend to be pure bull I have to admit I'll definitely watch this if the girls are extremely hot and belivable.
Anyone in their right minds know why men (and a few women) read Ikkitousen: The pure, hot as hell fanservice and if this movie delivers and hopefully gets an "R" rating and gets a few hot girls it could def deliver on that promise....
....Still deserves the The wall of Facepalm.jpg though

I'm willing to bet! Hopefully this time around they won't be trying to pass off Melissa Joan Hart as a high schooler.
I'm disappointed that out of all their properties, they're trying Ikki Tousen. I think something like GetBackers would probably adapt well and appeal to a wider audience. One that isn't 98% male.

I have to admit I'm rather... skeptical to this project. If it's ever going to see daylight there's no way I'm not going to see it though. If nothing else then just for the "car-accident factor".

So we have Chinese folklore loosely adapted into a Japanese setting which in turn will be adapted into an American setting with even more liberties. Complete fail, unless the movie reaches so bad its good territory.
Adapting the original source material for Ikki Tousen into an American collegiate setting isn't that bad of an idea, but Ikki Tousen, as fun of a guilty pleasure series it is, shouldn't be the middle man.

So this puts the number of anime lined-up for a Hollywood adaption at... how many?
And yet none of them aside from Speed Racer is even close to starting?
And there are so many better titles than Ikki Tousen. But then again, this is Tokyopop, and some of their execs have demonstrated their lack of judgment in the past.
