Hello,

http://yahoo.reuters.com/financeQuoteCompanyNewsArticle.jhtml?duid=mtfh79544_2004-12-08_19-12-29_n08100947_newsml

2 employees from Pandora's Cube were arrested today for selling modded X-boxes loaded with games. This is the same company that frequently attends anime conventions. Anyone know if they sell a lot of bootlegged stuff too?

Their store is positively overflowing with bootlegs of everything from anime to CDs to hollywood movies.

I'm willing to bet that the game industry won't be the only ones joining in on the fun.

150 for the 120GB HD
75 for the chip
~125 for installation and extortion

We ask again: Who the hell even drops a single dollar on an X-Box?

Simple. Anyone who just wants to pay for a system that can play all games already out and coming out without fear of having to lay down gobs of money for upgrade components, that's who.

Not to mention that it's loaded with games on the HD. I can get it for a lot cheaper than 500, but X-Box isn't my thing.

Okay, lemme rephrase the question one more time:

Who the bloody hell would by something made by a billionare with a buggy OS system used in 85% of the worlds computers?

Why should that even matter? We're talking consoles, not PCs. I could see a point if you're comparing an Apple to a Windows installed PC, but just because it's Microsoft isn't enough to shun them. I mean, Sony sells their share of defective crap too, doesn't keep me from enjoying their PS2. Sounds like you just hate Microsoft in general.

On topic: This is awsome! I've heard so many horrible things about Pandora's Cube and all of their illegal practices. Hell, I know at least one Otakon employee that I can't wait to forward this to. Pandora's Cube has been selling tapes of their AMV contests for a while now and they've been really steamed over it. About time!

I suspected as much. Thanks for confirming that Pandora's Cube are known bootleggers.

P^3's been a 'confirmed' bootlegger since...at least 1998. Hell, back then, they were one of the few places around that not merely rented but *sold* fansubs.

A much better question would be why are you wasting everyone's time by posting idiotic questions like this?

So what I want to know is if the anime companies are going to jump on this. It seems to me that most of the news is about the bootleg games, with no mention about the bootleg anime items.

Grab this bandwagon, US companies.

The legwork is already done, so they don't need to spend lots of money and they can have a legal precident.

Oh, and leave the console d--ksizing out of this. All systems have their advantages & flaws.

I've visited the store once. I couldn't really tell if any of the games or stuff were bootlegged (but at the time, it wasn't really a concern for me), but some of the people are nice at least. I know one of the employees personally. It just so happened he wasn't working at the time the store was raided.

Crazy...
