Looks like a divergence from the games, but as a fan of the franchise and as somebody who enjoyed the last film, it looks promising to me. Plus Carrie-Ann Moss, Malcolm McDowell and Sean Bean are all excellent actors in their own right. I'm sure it'll be a fun Halloween film incorporating the key game elements. Having tracked this film's production for a while, I know they've put a lot of serious effort into making a good movie. Can't wait til October!

I don't think I can handle this. Everything else about it might be great, but...
The very idea of Vincent as Heather's love interest is so, so wrong.
I actually love Vincent. He was my favorite character, but the idea of making him into a character who COULD be anyone's love interest doesn't sit well with me. Change his role, fine; make him less of a sleazeball, fun. But that is just... Nope.

That's the only thing that didn't sit right with me, especially with the game so fresh on my mind (playing through the HD Collection.) Agreed, 100%. I tend to look at video game movies, though, like giant, well-produced pieces of fan fiction, so I'm willing to overlook that glaring mistake as long as the film itself is good. Example: look what they did to Jill Valentine in RE: Afterlife, yet the movie itself was still so good.

I'm excited for this one. The first movie took a major detour from its source material and still ended up being a fun horror flick. I was surprised when I saw how they changed Vincent, but I also think it will be interesting to see how his new character plays out through the film.

I don't think Vincent is going to be a "good guy" in this film. Remember in the clip released at Comic-Con where he is strapped down in the room full of nurses? Heather didn't seem all too happy on helping him out. I'm guessing he's as sleazy as always.

The trailers for the first Silent Hill movie looked intriguing, but I've yet to see that film. Seeing the promo for this film has re-kindled my interest.

I wouldn't call it a mistake. I am sure they are well aware of who Vincent is in the game, or I doubt he'd be a character in the movie to begin with. Judging by the clip from Comic Con, he's not what he seems to be, as Heather is not only reluctant to rescue him but asks him about her father.
The first movie I enjoyed, despite it's flaws, and it is a guilty pleasure of mine. I am hoping this new one is at least as good as the first one. It's also nice to see some of the actors return from the first film. The trailer doesn't make me super enthusiastic like the first film, but I am still eager to see the movie as a fan and someone who enjoyed the first movie.
