You see that boat in the distance, that's the YGO Fad boat, for it is sinking and fast. The cargo of engrish was too much for it.

Nah. The players will just buy Konami products instead. That's what the internet savvy players are now prob doing.

I've heard the same song and dance for five years now - and now I believe this will drive a few old-timers away while the younguns will not pay it any mind at all. This is like a presidential election: everyone is happy to see the old boss go and get a new boss, until one realizes they weren't different at all to begin with. |

These card wars are occasionally fun to watch but the whole thing just seems so pointless somehow. You'd think all of this could have been resolved quietly in house. |

As a moderate player/collector of Yugioh TCG this news really has no affect on either aspect. The question is, how well will Konami pick up the slack.

Considering this is just about the starkest change in my lifetime I'd say you're not paying much attention to what you speak of. |

Who else votes that we let both sides settle the issue by sitting down to an epic card duel?

What's "this"? Konami vs. UDE? The last presidential election? I sure hope it's the latter. And where do you get I was talking about the last election, anyway? I said "A presidential...", not "THE LAST presidential..." Looks like someone else should be paying attention to what is written/read. UDE loses, Konami picks up the tab. Hopefully this will result in discontinuing the practice of making cards that were of low printed rarity but powerful in their Japanese release harder to get off packs in the US. UD representatives sure talked a lot about how they worked so hard to make the game better by staying away from how Konami managed it on the other side of the Pacific, but that issue showed me that both sides were full of crap. |

Conan-san: These days, I see two TCGs being played at my hangout when I stop by: Naruto and Yu-Gi-Oh!, with the majority playing Yu-Gi-Oh! Unless someone messes up royally, Yu-Gi-Oh! will still float.
Anton Chigurh: I agree with you. No matter who's in charge, nothing dramatic will happen. Yet. Overall, the main concern most players have is when organized play will be restored. Word is Konami will announce what they'll do with OP after the sneak peeks for the new set are held. Oh, and does Upper Deck's take on this reek of pettiness to anyone else, or is it just me? |

It'd be even more EPIC!!111!!!1!!!1 (cue MarioNumbers-style word abuse) if UDE had to fight Solid Snake, the Vic Viper, and the Contra dudes in a card game.

This injunction settles nothing. It is just Konami putting the screws to UDE. All that it means is that UDE can't do anything with Yu-Gi-Oh until the main lawsuit is settled or when the court decides to rescind the injunction.
Why is UDE the enemy? They have a legal contract to the franchise. What does Konami have, but a bunch of unproven allegations. Even if those allegations are true, they might not even have any bearing on the contract. As long as UDE has kept the contract, then Konami has no leg to stand on. I think what others have said concerning this is that Konami wants this lucrative franchise back and have decided the best way is to make things so costly to UDE, that UDE will give up the franchise. The main lawsuit or if UDE gives in will decide the future of Yu-Gi-Oh. |

Makes me glad I play Universal Fighting System over this.....
So if anyone wants to get out of Yu-Gi-Oh and into another CCG really easily they (UFS) have a promotion going on which can be found here- http://new.fantasyflightgames.com/edge_news.asp?eidn=421 As to this issue here it kinda makes some players scared (the ones that normally are the most competitive.) and it also can be bad as Konami may not fully know the market (although UDE doesn't really know it either, anyone else remember Quickstrike?) So for those who aren't sure, a wait and see approach may wind-up hurting them as their cards will suddenly have no value (or at least not as much as they had before) |

If you actually bought Japanese cards, you'd see the difference. The Japanese cards do look better especially when you get to the rare cards. If you want your franchise back and someone is not giving it to you, you take them to court. Businesses do it all the time. Yu-Gi-Oh! is a Konami franchise. Konami has every right to "duke" it out with UDE. |

The problem with this lawsuit between these two giants is that Konami's move is just a delaying tactic. Since the contract they signed with Upper Deck is legal, Konami is trying to get Upper Deck to give up by alleging these false allegations.
Konami is hoping that they can stretch out these proceeding, giving the contract time enough to expire. But, I think in the end, that Konami may end up being forced not only to pay Upper Deck for damages as a result of their lawsuit against Upper Deck as well as the injunction and with refusal to provide new material for the new expansion sets but will also be forced to extend the contract terms so that Upper Deck can get the game back out there. |
