Interesting, is this a deal primarily with Joost, or does it directly involve the anime companies (ADV, VIZ, FUNi) as well?

And as Joost adds more stuff to their library, will ANN automatically get that too?

This deal is with Joost; Joost's deal with the various anime companies allow for "embeds" at other websites. We do plan on adding every anime program Joost adds, as well as more of our own.

BTW, we've been having some back-and-forth about adding Avatar: The Last Airbender. Not technically anime, but a great show and enjoyed by mostly the same people. Thoughts?

I see no problem, as who could say Naruto vs Avatar are differrent? They have more in common then differences.

I would love to see ANN add Avatar. I haven't seen any of it but would love the chance to. I'm sure many others would as well. Congratulations on the new acquisitions!

Sign me up to the list of those who would like to see it here at ANN. A great show with stylistic and narrative elements clearly inspired by Anime, there is a large segment of Anime fans who enjoy it.

Sweet! I really like "Kaiji," and hopefully BE, ADV, or FUNi will license the anime soon. It's one more anime that I would like to see dub just to share it with my friends and family. I prefer subtitles. Kaiji is a great anime.

*shrug* Well, you've already got BASToF Syndrome, that's not "technically" anime either... (Though of course, what IS anime to begin with?)

What is with the expiration dates?

And what's the difference between watching the video here vs watching it on Joost? (Beside having a better navigational layout here.)

This is really great, good work guys and gals.

It's a smart move on your part, keeping people here at ANN while giving those people the ability to see the Joost vids. Hopefully this is a win win situation for both parties.

Props to ANN to not just sitting still, but rather to continue to reach out and offer new things.

Now I just need the time to sit and watch some of these shows. Wink

It's like in-flight entertainment offered by airlines; no one would object a new feature as long as it doesn't

1. increase the price
2. reduce the benefits and/or the enjoyment of existing customers

This applies to virtually any business. As far as I can see introducing Avatar on ANN would do neither.

And I bet people would call you God if you can bring Dark Knight streaming on ANN -- as long as servers and bandwidth can withstand the traffic. Wink

I think the expiration date is when the video will be removed from the site.

And as far as I know, there is no difference (from your perspective) to watching the videos here rather than Joost, aside from layout. From some brief browsing, I rather like the ANN layout: makes it easy to see what series are available and how much is available.

Oh god. The dubs.... Shocked

And those are some ghetto subs. Wink

But still, I think this is really cool and I'll at least try it out.
But man, what is with all the dubs only options. That kind of breaks it for me. (I am assuming the "d" and "s" meaning the language it's in).

I don't want to sound elitist (whatever) but I can't really stand dubs at all. I do enjoy seeing that Death Note is subbed so I will definitely go back and watch some of my favorite episodes... Very Happy
