I sent the message internally last week; judging from past experience, neither site admin nor I think our readership would be interested enough to justify the time and energy invested in a coverage.

It's really too bad though. I found some of the material you brought back from similar events in the past to be super interesting. Sadly not enough people felt the same.

I remembered the time when nobody knew who Inio Asano was when Tohan invited him to promote his Oyasumi Punpun. Sometime later his Solanin became a huge hit in North America, or at least on ANN. Both Asano-sensei and staff of Tohan were very nice, and I could have acquired additional autographs for our readers had we covered him earlier......

The Central News Agency's Focus Taiwan in Japanese, too, has an article about it. According to the article, it seems that also Nakai Kazuya will visit Taiwan. http://japan.cna.com.tw/Detail.aspx?Type=Classify&NewsID=201301100001 |

It is like you to direct your attention to cameras. ^_^ |

The problem of those events is that, with the exception of guests of honor, it's not really worth to buy anime/manga there. Discounts are not enough to compensate the admission fee, plus the exhibition hall is way too crowded with people. On the other hand, the two camera sets are something I'd call creative thinking. A cosplayer photographer who works at a camera store told me that he wanted to acquire one of each for his store but was declined by the regional distributor; the sets are exclusive items available from the anime licensee only. |

I see. So you have seen the cameras not only from the viewpoint of a photographer but also from the viewpoint of a fan who buys anime/manga-related goods at events. |

Exactly, and that's how all brick'n'mortar stores should learn in order to compete with online commerce. |

I can't believe that Tohan has invited Mamoru Hosoda (director of Wolf Children, Summer Wars)! His name was not in the previous edition of guests list. |

I think The Wolf Children Ame and Yuki was screened in Taiwan earlier than in France. The credit title says:
つか、角川が招んでやれよw Why didn't you invite him, Kadokawa? |

I watched it personally last August, two weeks earlier than its premiere to the general French population; the world premiere was as early as June 25 at UGC Ciné Cité Les Halles, Paris.
Taiwan Tohan has a "tradition" of publishing animanga (comic books consist of anime screencaps) of popular anime movies, notably Ghibli titles. I wonder if Taiwan Tohan would release the animanga of Wolf Children at the Festival. UPDATE: Tohan asks customers to buy the storyboard collection for director Hosoda's autograph. Oh, you saw the film? Yeah, I meant the general release of it in France. I had read some articles about the world première of the film. Sorry about it if my expression was not enough.
Thank you for the info. I had seen Taiwan Tōhan deal in film comics ('film comic' is the standard term to refer to that kind of book in Japan) of Ghibli films (probably those Taiwan Tōhan Ghibli film comics are based on the Tokuma edition) on their site. Probably they are the books which you have mentioned. Since books related to The Wolf Children Ame and Yuki are published by Kadokawa in Japan and large shareholders of Tōhan are Otowa and Hitotsubashi, rather than Kadokawa, I wonder what is the relation between Taiwan Tōhan and The Wolf Children Ame and Yuki. |
