Tempting. From what I've seen thus far, 2009 is shaping up to be a respectable vintage.
I'll be keeping an eye on those prices though. Patience might facilitate grabbing some bargains later on.

I wish I'd known they'd be repackaging Aquarion, because I blew $100 on the individual half-series sets a few weeks back. Oh well, Gankutsuo might be worth it, and Black Lagoon, now that both seasons will be available in box form.

Those titles are listed with the MSRP, you should be able to get them about $15-20 cheaper at Best Buy etc.t, so they're pretty reasonable anyways.

Patie3nce would be helpful when it comes to single releases tho'. Especially seeing as the Black Lagoon 2 collection is probably going to be the exact same thing as the singles -_-"

I was wondering when they'd do something with AIR.

From watching a lot fansubs concurrently to when they air, I always find going by DVD release for vintage to be odd and confusing in respect to the show. And Gankutsuou sure ain't looking any cheaper than what I could get it for now. I mean, Rightstuf will only discount so far for pre-order prices, it'd still be cheaper to buy the individual DVDs.

I tend to agree with that; while I don't find it necessarily strange to go by R1 release vintage, I always have an easier time remembering when shows originally aired, even if I didn't actually watch them during their initial airing. Like I know Argentosoma aired in the fall of 2000, but I couldn't tell you when the Bandai release came out.

Already got the ADV releases for AIR TV & Movie, and Black Lagoon, Moonlight mile, and Blue Earth don't really interest me. But I was waiting for a complete collection of Aquarion, so now's the time on that. Gankutsuou was a show I enjoyed on fansub, so I suppose I should be picking that up as well. Although I wasn't too impressed with what I saw of the English dub or the official subs, at least it'll only be $37.79 at studio sale + Got Anime prices. That's at least slightly better than the $48 for the six Geneon singles without artbox.

Thank goodness FUNi!

I was worried they would sit on the Air license (since it's one of the older shows that was transferred to them from ADV), but I'm so happy I can own it ^^

YES! I've been waiting so long for this...sad that rightstuf's Funi sale is now over with...oh well, assuming they stay in business I'm sure they'll have another one eventually. Of course, I don't even know if they have it up for pre-order yet...not that it matters right now anyway.

Glad I waited on buying the the Aquarion half sets, I'll probably pick up the season set on Deep Discount's next 20% off sale along with Air TV and Black Lagoon Season 2.

Just so you know... FUNi usually has DeepDiscount take down their box sets for the 20% off sale.

It happened last time and the time before at least.

Technically Black Lagoon is a Geneon title and NOT a new title solicitation for Funimation, but they are physically manufacturing the discs, so i guess its really a matter of perspective.

This whole Geneon/Funimation thing sure gets confusing at times Confused

It does mean however that Funimation should have no say in whether Black Lagoon is taken down during DD sale, so good odds it will be available for purchase from DD during sale.

I think that it counts as a FUNimation title Solicitation, seeing as how it even has its own place on FUNi's site and they also advertise it.

it's definitely wierd. It is advertised on Funimation's page but it also has the Geneon logo on Funimations own website, and Geneon DOES own it.
