If KnK keeps pumping numbers like this, maybe there's an American license in the (relatively) near future?

I can dream...

I'll be rather shocked if the Kara no Kyoukai movies doesn't get licensed here. These has enough action and gore with a good heaping of complex plot from primarily young adult-aged (and incredibly badass) women that SHOULD make some certain naysayer anime fans at the very least check this title out. Rolling Eyes

Though releasing could be rather tricky considering most of the movies so far (with the exception of the 5th movie) are only about an hour's worth of material.

I am amazed at Type-Moon's success rate. Those are Macross type numbers. Despite the boring anime adaptation of Tsukihime (the visual novel is excellent for its time), the little circle that could keeps churning out high quality entertainment.

With this, I'll have to break my promise and catch up on the movies. After the first one, I vowed to wait til they were all released. But it seems I'm really missing something.

As to licensing, I can see them doing two movies per disc, in line with the half-season boxes that are popular now. That would let them release the final movie with lots of extras for a big finale (R1 industry? Are you listening?)

I'm happy to see that Hidamari Sketch continues to quietly put up respectable sales numbers. Much like the case with Aria, it is a show with a fairly small but extremely devoted fan base. So perhaps a fan-friendly company who has shown a willingness to license and produce niche titles for R1 distribution - Nozomi Entertainment, hint hint - might take a little time to consider this one. Very Happy

Why is 20th Century Boys listed as an animation DVD? It may be based off of a manga, but it's live-action.

We actually don't list them as animation DVDs; we put them in a separate paragraph from the animation DVDs and specify if they are live-action. There are many DVDs that are not animated, but are still related to anime and manga, such as 20th Century Boys, Daikessen! Super Ultra 8 Kyōdai, and Nana Mizuki Live Fighter Blue X Red Side. The information on these DVDs help people get a picture of how the animation DVDs are doing, in relation to everything else.

Glad to see that as well. I was so surprised at Kara no Kyoukai's numbers that I didn't even read the rest. Kannagi is holding up over 10K as well. Hoping for an R1 license for that as well, and with a second season coming, it might get it.

Good point. I suppose I was just thinking that along the lines of the recession, companies would be more likely to make safe bet licenses, and KnK's release format could complicate that. Plus if I had to guess, the license is going to be hella expensive. But yeah, the movies themselves are fantastic, so hopefully I'm wrong...

Yah, that would be great, although movie 5 would probably have to be released by itself as well, since it clocks in at just under two hours (to think I thought it would be short enough to wind down with before going to sleep).

You should definitely catch up on watching them, though. Awesome, and that's enough said.[/quote]
