I guess Bushiroad's success with English Vangaurd cards is leading them to try Weiss Schwarz now.
Though I can't imagine how that'd work in the US; it'd be a licensing nightmare. |

Well, at the very least with these trial decks, both Madoka and Fate/Zero are distributed by Aniplex in the US, right? |

Neat! Hope they are successful enough to expand, I'd love to see Booster packs for my Disgaea to go with my Starter I bought off of NISA's store afew years ago.

As was mentioned, the fact both of these series are from Aniplex is part of the reason why this is happening. They seem to be on quite good terms with them.
Some series like Idolm@ster and Macross we'll never be seeing in english though. |

Do these decks/games share a compatible system so that you can play the Disgaea deck against the Madoka Magica deck (or even swap cards out from each other?)

Yes you can. The game has several formats:
Standard: You can play any card in your deck. I think most people play attribute themed decks like 'Book', 'Glasses' or 'Magic', or you can just shove good cards together to make a coherent strategy. Neo-Standard: You can play any series, but you have to stick to that series. So for example you could play Evangelion, but the other people in the tournament could be playing stuff like Milky Holmes, Haruhi, Madoka etc. Related series such as all the many Nanoha sets can be combined. This is currently the most popular format. Side Restricted (Either Weiss or Schwarz): This is basically the same as standard, except you can only use cards from one side. Title Restricted: Everyone must use the same series. This is usually done for promotional purposes when a new series comes out. There are a few banned cards, and this can vary slightly with format (for example something might be banned in Neo Standard, but allowed in Title restricted.) |

The website of the company that releases the cards in the US actually has print-outs you can download off their website with all the card translations listed on them, so you can use the Japanese cards if you have them. They also have an online list of all the translations, which is rather nifty but man is it hard to find people to play against. They only list about a half dozen stores in the US right now that actually sell the game so its really niche, hopefully with more English sets coming out more stores will pick it up.

I'm getting myself two of the Fate/Zero decks for sure, and I hope this means the game will be getting an official domestic release, rather than imports. |
