Not like this, Tashigi. Not like this.

Then stay away from the soft hentai called fairy tail.

Sex sells. Sometimes I think the world would be better off if sexual feelings wouldn't exist and reproduction was simply an instinct.
But then my wife comes home from work and I'm already naked

If you've actually read Fairy Tail you'll know that's bull. there's a serious plot and a majority of it is not as/or is just as Fanservicy as One Piece, Seven deadly Sins and many other popular Shonen.

Something like Shokugeki no Soma is closer to soft hentai than Fairy Tail.

At least in Fairy Tail the female characters are allowed to fight and be badass strong women, not just strong personalities with a decent backstory but never given a full fight.

I mean Lucy alone has had more full fights than Nami and Robin combined.

I feel sorry for anybody who reads that and buys Fairy Tail looking for some hentai, because they are going to be very disappointed.
I will admit to being a bit behind in my reading, but as of volume 51 Fairy Tail has not had anything approaching even very soft hentai.
There is nudity without nipples but I do not remember any sex at all.

Just to get on topic, the figure that is the subject of the article is not really my type. I do not mind the exposed skin, quite the contrary, but I would like it better if she was built to actually fit that swimsuit.

Ya guys know people are picked like Scarlett Johansson for Ghost in the Shell partly because she's one of the sexiest women in the world that would put butts on seats; so don't complain when Hollywood tries to sell sex over what could make more sense. Laughing

I would greatly appreciate it if people didn't take comments of mine from other threads completely out of context and water it down to 'bitching about attainable figures'. All I did is that Sanji's body was more attainable than most of the women in One Piece in order to draw attention to exactly how outrageous their bodies are. Did I say it wouldn't take a crazy amount of working out, dieting and protein shakes? No. Did I say any average John on the street could attain this? No. Did I say it wasn't ill advised? No. Did I even say it was desirable? My point was, I have seen people in the gym that looked like Sanji, and yes, it's terrifying IRL. But it's, however ridiculous, scientifically possible without the need for organ-removing surgery, which is the only way someone could get a body like the women in OP. (another option would be to wear a corset from a young age, but it wouldn't look quite the same)
The only reason I bothered to point that out in a series full of characters as goofy and unrealistic as One Pieceis because of the usual crowd that descend on things like this all 'weeh weeh the men are JUST AS SEXUALISED as the women!'

Unless those figures of the men posing confidentially and showing abs also come with alternate coy faceplates and a swappable lower half that gives you a glimpse of a gonad, don't even try to pretend the figures are equivalent. We know there aren't and you aren't fooling anyone with false equivalences like that.

(And before anyone bothers, spare me the 'well women are attracted to different things and a bare chest is basically porn to women so stuff for men is allowed to go further, which I know as I am an expert on women', please don't. If that were remotely true, there wouldn't be anywhere near the response to Natives first 18+ male figure that there is. There's a huge untapped demand for pervy shit aimed at women and it's pretty condescending to say that a bare-chested guy, something most people would see in an average day, is the same thing as a figurine in which the vulva is visible.)

Like I said before, my 'problem' with this figure is more how sexual it is for One Piece than the fact that it's a sexual figure. It wouldn't even be a blip on my radar otherwise. I was surprised by the sultry Sanji too, but not as surprised as I was to see external genitalia sculpted onto a figure from the same show. I don't object to its existence, I don't want it censored and if you want it on your shelf, more power to you. But I have the right to say 'wtf' about it. And unless they really are going to make that figure of Zoro with a boner showing then I refuse to be labelled a hypocrite. although I'm saying this on a forum where a few days ago a bunch of people completely unironically said that a Hawaiian man with no shirt on in the blatantly asexual Pokemon art style was 'objectification of men' so I don't know why I'm bothering.

I won't deny that Oda's designs for female characters have gotten somewhat...Barbie-esque over the past decade, but he never gets anywhere near as porny as some of the recent figures that have been posted on here. Frankly there's something disturbing about seeing the characters get put in these exploitative poses, when generally speaking they have a good deal of agency in the actual series' story. You can make the characters look sexy but still keep them sex-positive, without turning them into simpering little girls to satisfy a creepy otaku fetish.

(And before anyone brings it up, yes, I know about Punk Hazard, but the joke there was that spoiler[visually speaking, it was Smoker portraying the embarassed little girl. Tashigi's body was incredibly confident...too much so for Tashigi herself, unfortunately.])

Haha, excellent comment. Actually had a good laugh. (^.^)

Personally speaking, I don't see an issue with this at all, especially when it's non-canon. Buy it if you like it, stay away from it if you don't. If they want to sexualize the characters, so be it. It's their property to do whatever they like with it.

Also, I don't see how sex or fanservice can "ruin" a character, nor how it can't co-exist with other "positive" characteristics. Humans are sexual by nature and way too many people try to deny that part of humanity in a desperate bid to pretend that they're not just another species of animal living on this planet. Now that's the textbook definition of pretension. More often than not, people echo this rhetoric of "sex=bad' to maintain their own moral superiority - nothing more, nothing less.

I completely agree with championferret, comparing this Tashigi, clearly made to empower some basement dwelling man childs fantasies of domination over some defenceless maiden (which, by the by, is completely out of character for Tashigi) to that Sanji bust which is clearly a character piece and exudes confidence over frailty.

And Actar, it's possible to support the indistry by buying the manga/anime, as I do. I just hate these kinds of garbage and frankly misogynistic trivial pieces.

Also from the other thread.

Quote:
While idealised, Sanji's body is still at least attainable.
Nami's and Robin's would require many years of wearing a corset, after first having surgery to remove a few organs.

So right off the bat you're comparing the "attainable figure" of Sanji to the exaggerated features of Nami and Robin.

Meanwhile Franky, whose wide as all hell Brook who's like 8 feet tall naturally, Zoro Who's neck is not possible without steroid abuse,
(http://static.comicvine.com/uploads/original/5/56730/1652116-one_piece_599_zoro__s_entrance.png)
and, Usopp's Nose... Also Robin Herself is pretty damn tall at around 7 feet.

The only reason Sanji even looks the way he does is because He's not supposed to have any physical feature exaggerated except his eyebrows. It's all in the personality. Luffy looks the way he does because he's Designed to look unassuming.

At no point did i take what you said out of context.

Also Really? You're going to backtrack on it? You said it was "Attainable" and then went into effort to describe how you would have to acheieve Nami and Robin... This is a harsh implication that Sanji can be attained in a somewhat close to healthy way. now you want to say "did i say this and that?" no. you dont have to it's implied with the language you use and what you omit. In your back-treading you say "Did I say any average John on the street could attain this? No." But you never said he couldn't either, actually it's more heavily implied by what you said that they can. What you said is the body is attainable, which with no restrictions, also applies to the average Joe.

Did you just compare Genitalia to a chest? And you're projecting "false equivalences"

Real world 101: Im an artist. I've drawn nude models of evey age, shape and gender. A lot of nude models prefer to wear some form of genital covering, usually a thin thong espically true in a lot of public classess. The chest is just that - the chest. Genitals are Genitals. You cant say taking off the genitals makes it equal to a naked boob.

So no, you're not going to see male genitals? It's almost like you'll never see female genitals in these figures either. Go figure. All these figures ever let you do is swap the top off.

Ok so you think that's not true? You think how women see men sexually isnt true...... LOL!

hey, do me a favor, take a sampling of lets just say 10,000 women and ask them what part of the male body they find most attractive. Your answers are going to be the shoulders and Abs.... Take a look at the Free fanbase -some bulge and mostly upper body showing with wet, hot guys. Or I'll do you one better just google Sexy Zoro, Sanji, Luffy - any hot male fanart and you'll see what most of the women who draw these are looking at.

mmmhmm.

So i took a gander at the figure, and it shows off his complete genitals if you remove the covering it seems..... Yeah i dont see Tashigi's complete genitals here, i see the vuvla and that's about it. that's as far as you can go in Japan without it going into the 18+ category. How are these in any way comparable? tell me can you see ALL of Tashigi's snatch now answer carefully. Because like you're going to compare an 18+ figure, there are also 18+ female figures that show off just as much as the natives figure. that's why they're 18 plus.

Heres the deal. These people have done SIGNIFICANTLY more research into what their female demographic find attractive than you have - the fact that you're unaware of what women do find attractive (or are blatanlty ignoring it) is very telling of you. You see No matter what doll, they're going to try to push the limits. In no way is it condescending to anybody to point out where people get their sexual Hyucks according to those people themselves.

If it's really that big a deal, why not request whoever makes these makes more male Dolls that show off stuff like this?

But still though we disagree, good on you for not endorsing censorship.

Or she's wearing a bathing suit that's too small is is being embarassed about the showing Skin (that, or annoyed by the massive wedgie she has)? Yes that's very much in character, Look at her response when Smoker walked around with her bust showing because he's used to the open shirt.

Being embarrassed =/= defenseless.... dafuq?

The article TITLE say's 'distressed' which is much more synonymous with defenceless than embarrassed. Add that to the actual depiction of the modal which is obviously just cheap wank fodder for basement dwellers then fine. You like this stuff, buy it. I think it's gross and pretty unsightly.

Thesaurus.com gives 48 synonyms for "distressed." "Defenseless" is not one of them.
Judging by the pictures in the article she does not look defenseless to me, just embarrassed. But, considering that these are pictures of a figure of a fictional character there is bound to be some personal bias in any judgement that we make.

That's fine. I am not very fond of this particular one, but that is just because I prefer figures that are not quite so full. In general I do like things of this type, but I realize that a lot of people do not.
I have no problem with that.
I try to enjoy what I like and let other people enjoy what they like.

I just wish that this type of merchandise was not so expensive.

LOL. There's way more negative feedback in this thread than I ever would have expected for a figure. I suppose that this is a bit racy for a series that isn't fanservice-centric, but as figures go, it's pretty tame. For instance, lot of figures would have an outfit which was removable, and this one doesn't look like it's one of those.

There are plenty of figures out there that aren't at all racy, but a large portion of them are, and if you find this sort of thing to be too much, then you're going to be unhappy with a lot of figures. There's always merchandise like this floating around which presents anime women in a sexy manner, and there are always otaku who snatch it up - though given One Piece's mass popularity, the types of fans who would buy this sort of thing are probably a smaller percentage of the fan base than is the case for many shows. But still, that percentage is going to be a sizable number of fans ready and willing to snatch stuff up like this, and I doubt that they'll have any trouble selling this figure.

Personally, I think that this figure looks better than the others in this particular line of figures, since while her proportions are warped like the others, it seems to work better in her case (maybe the warping just isn't quite as bad?). Still, if I had a complaint, it would be about her proportions. But then again, we are talking about a One Piece figure here, and their proportions are a bit odd.

Hmmm really now? simple word logic time which makes more sense?

original: He was distressed when he realized his pants had ripped.

He was embarassed, when he realized his pants had ripped.

He was defenseless when he realized his pants had ripped.

Which one sounds more like a synonym?

Also just to clear the record i dont care about these figures, they're expensive AF just for some T&A, and we have hentai for that. And I can draw One Piece characters myself if i ever got desperate

I do however take annoyance with people inflating sexuality to some BS "sexism" mission statement. Or starting to argue about which ONE PIECE CHARACTER'S body is attainable.

I agree with you there. Arguing about the attainability of a stylized drawing is pointless.

Actar is not saying you are not supporting the industry if you only buy manga/anime, and I'll give you a freebie and include realistic Figma's.
But male fans that spend fortunes on ecchi figures, statues, manga, trading cards, and other plentiful items are a financial force to reckon with in the anime industry. Your use of the term misogynistic is just another name to beat men up for having Playboy magazines.

Im not sure which manga YOU'VE been reading if you've read one piece but i dont think having big boobs = this all the time.

oh yeah and all of chapter 365.

One Piece by comparison doesn't get NEARLY as much fanservice (and thats probably because it doesnt have to compensate for lack of good plot by having to show you naked girls all the time - but that's none of my buisness)

I've read fairy tail up till i ragequit after the bullshit known as the Grand Magic Games arc and i can say: LIES AND FORGERY.

Also Fairy Tail's females are primarily battle mages - One Piece is more adventure oriented than quick-action oriented like Fairy Tail, so apples to oranges. With One Piece it depends on the person. Robin is a ranged assassin, She's not a good prolonged fighter. Nami gets a couple of fights but every time she's in a war of wits rather than strength. Then you have Deadly bruisers like Carrot, Fast dodgers like Rebecca or battle dominatrix's like Boa Hancock (and really all of Amazon Lilly)
