Where I live, the manga selection in stores, from smallest to largest is:
Suncoast
Barnes & Noble
Waldenbooks (the smaller one)
Waldenbooks (larger one in same mall as Suncoast; they also have a few DVDs)
I hope they get it. I don't want to wait til September.

Ummmm... I don't know about why, but the first three volumes of Rahxephon are currently in the B&N I visit in Daytona Beach. I didn't flip through them because all three are bound in plastic wrap together... Any clue if they are the real thing?

Well, were they in the Graphic Novel section? I don't think they would be some sort of freaky bootleg, unless you read it wrong, and it was another book.

No, they were the real thing, I'm pretty sure. And they were in the GN section. When I go back I'll double check if Viz produced them.

The only bookstore I go to for manga is Borders. The manga section isn't huge, but it's better than the Barnes and Noble stores around here.
*sigh* I've found Tokyopop to be so much more efficient than Viz nowadays.

It's too bad that RahXephon will only be available in Barnes and Nobles. The nearest B&N is 90 miles from where I live, which is why I almost always buy my manga from Waldenbook's. Plus I have the Preferred Reader Discount which eliminates the taxes.
