Well, earnest, helpful soul that I am, I web searched the term "Apartment Wife." Google says that "apartment wife" is a Japanese slang term for a woman who stays home in her apartment all day while her husband is always out working or saying he's working. It seems to be snarking on her lower to middle class status and her lack of a real life.
But that doesn't really fit the context of Oto's snark since Sumeriko has a job and is single. So either Google is wrong, it's a slight mistranslation, the term has multiple layers like most terms do, or Oto is employing it sideways. In the context of the show, Oto seems to be implying that our female lead is married to her apartment instead of having a husband in real life, a single, no-life shut-in conforming to that anime stereotype of the approaching thirty single woman who comes home, pops open a beer, and goes "Ahhhh" with a little too much enjoyment. That'd be my guess anyhow. |

Having had a look at the upcoming seasons makes me extra sad to see this one end since horror/mystery/detective shows are not all that common and it seems like it will be a while until the next one.

Blood - Technically, I'm a coffee lover, but definitely not in the context of this thread
Smurky - Next season does have the "How to be Ordinary" anime. I don't think it's going to be supernatural, but it should be about mystery solving. |
