OK, it is clear now that you are seeing the same functionality as we do. It just doesn't bother you. That makes sense if you haven't seen it work any other way. Basically what DerekL1963 is saying is that it would be helpful if a thread continued to be marked orange until he reads it (or clears the sub forum) through multiple sessions with ANN. I agree with him.
